A BioWare press release today announced the musical team behind next year's Mass Effect 3, the action-RPG wrapping up the Mass Effect trilogy and Commander Shepard's war versus the Reapers. Spoiler: If you're a fan of the series' music so far, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Four of the five composers listed in the press release are making a return to the series, namely: Christopher Lennertz, an Emmy-nominated composer who also worked on Medal of Honor; Chris Velasco, who aside from Mass Effect 2 worked on Sony's God of War series; Sam Hulick, a Mass Effect composer veteran; and Sascha Dikiciyan who's also worked on TRON: Evolution.

“The magic of BioWare games has always been the emotional power of the story, so music is extremely important to the experience,” said Casey Hudson, the Mass Effect series' executive producer. “With Mass Effect 3, we’re taking players on a more personal journey, even though the scope is bigger than ever – an all-out galactic war! Each composer has played an intricate role in delivering the combination of epic scope and delicate emotion that will make Mass Effect 3 the best game in the series.”

Helping deliver that "delicate emotion" via music is Mass Effect first-timer Clint Mansell, who's worked on films like Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream.

We'll see how Mansell and the rest of Mass Effect 3's veteran crew deliver when the game hits shelves on March 6, 2012.
