Megan Fox Lends Voice and Likeness as Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1

It has been 17 years since the vampire Nitara was a playable character in a Mortal Kombat game. Now NetherRealm Studios has announced that Nitara is back in Mortal Kombat 1. Megan Fox is playing the role and will be lending her voice and likeness to the character.

Megan Fox says, "It’s cool to be in the game. Because I'm not really just voicing it. It'll be like, she’s kind of me."

Fox also states that, "I think it's just an opportunity that anybody would want, because we did all grow up playing the game, and it is one of the greatest video games of all time."

Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 14, 2023 (Kollector and Premium Editions) and September 19, 2023 (Standard Edition) for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.

The roster of characters so far is: Ashrah, Baraka, Johnny Cage, Geras, Havik, Liu Kang, Kitana, Kung Lao, Li Mei, Mileena, Nitara, Raiden, Rain, Reptile, Scorpion, General Shao, Sindel, Smoke, Sub-Zero, Kenshi Takahashi, Tanya, and Shang Tsung (pre-order).

Kameo Fighters include: Cyrax, Darrius, Frost, Goro, Jax, Kano, Kung Lao, Motaro, Sareena, Scorpion, Sektor, Shujinko, Sonya Blade, Stryker, and Sub-Zero. The Kombat Pack DLC will include: Ermac, Homelander, Omni-Man, Peacemaker, Quan Chi, and Takeda.

Good for Megan! She seems to be enjoying a career resurgence lately, or maybe she's just doing work older folks like me appreciate. I know she's appearing in The Expendables 4 soon, too. So, yeah. It's probably just a shift in project focus.
