Star Wars: The Old Republic goes free-to-play November 15
Well, mostly free.
Surprising no one, BioWare recently announced Star Wars: The Old Republic's inevitable move to a free-to-play pricing structure. Previously, the projected date for FTP was "Fall," but now BioWare have given us an official date, and it's close. Players will be able to play Star Wars: The Old Republic for free on November 15.
Of course, not all the content will be available for free. Players will be able to download the game and play levels 1-through-50 without having to purchase anything. Players will also be able to purchase items through the Cartel Market with SWTOR's currency, cartel coins.
Anyone who's purchased the game already will be given preferred status. This means many of the unlocks that you've obtained while playing on a paid subscription, that are now locked away behind a micropayment, will still be yours. New players will also achieve preferred status by purchasing an item priced above $4.99 on the online store.
