Codemasters teases DiRT 4?

DiRT 3 image

The question mark in that headline is probably unnecessary.

Although this can currently be filed under speculation, it would be a safe bet that Codemasters is preparing to announce DiRT 4.

Photos of a fully kitted-out rally car were posted on the Twitter feed of Paul Coleman, chief game designer on the DiRT series, featuring the simple hashtag ‘#dirt.’ The featured car has been used in promotional material for previous games in the franchise.

With a remarkable lack of subtlety the first Tweet read “Commence your speculation. #dirt”, followed by another Tweet and picture combo which read “Another teaser. Sadly I can’t say what I’m actually doing but it’s fun.” The image showed the rally car surrounded by a crowd of people on what appears to be a racetrack or airfield.

The chances that this is idle teasing seem slim. DiRT 3 received wide critical praise upon its release earlier this year, and the frenetic rallying series has also enjoyed strong commercial success. Expect an official announcement for DiRT 4 soon.
