Saturn-era fighters rated for Xbox 360

Virtua Fighter 2 image

Sonic the Fighters, Virtua Fighter 2, and Fighting Vipers appear to be the next entries in Sega's Heritage collection.

Sega is all about the remasters and rereleases these days. German rating board USK has rated several of Sega's classic fighting games for release on Xbox 360.

Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, and Sonic the Fighters are the games in question. All three games were originally developed by AM2, with only Sonic the Fighters not seeing a Saturn release. (All three were released in arcades, way back when arcades were a thing.)

None of the games have been formally announced by Sega, but these ratings are a strong indication that they'll be getting an XBLA release, and probably a PSN release as well.

It's nice that Sega is sensibly releasing a bunch of their oldschool titles through digital services. Hopefully a disc release compilation will come once enough of these are released, avoiding the repeat of the abysmal four-game Dreamcast collection. I was checking Xbox Live Arcade the other day, and I couldn't keep up with the number of classic titles Sega has put up lately. xD

Yeah, I started this comment by listing all of the Sega rereleases and remasters I could think of from the past few years but it was so long that I deleted it! Hopefully these fighting games get the Sonic CD treatment and not the Jet Set Radio stuttering treatment.
