[UPDATE] PlayStation confirms Assassin's Creed III's season pass
Still no formal word from Ubisoft, though.
We heard a rumor about a month-and-a-half ago about an Assassin's Creed III season pass, but today we can confirm the pass' existence thanks to the PlayStation Store Update posted on the PlayStation Blog.
The update lists three versions of Assassin's Creed III that are available for pre-order from the PlayStation Network. The standard, $60 edition will allow for a digital download of ACIII, while the Gold Edition, priced at $90, will include the game along with its season pass, essentially pricing the pass at $30. Also available for pre-order is a $120 package that includes ACIII, its season pass and Assassin's Creed III: Liberation for the PlayStation Vita.
There still has been no official word from Ubisoft formally announcing the season pass, and, as such, we can only speculate as to what exactly the season pass will feature. Of course, if I were to make an educated guess, I'd say it's an uneven mixture of single-player and multiplayer downloadable content. As usual, you'll hear from us once we finally see or hear something official.
[UPDATE]: Ubisoft has sent out a press release formally announcing the ACIII season pass, and, as deducted, it will cost $30 (or 2,400 Microsoft Points). Gamestop and Best Buy are currently taking pre-orders for the pass, according to the release. Also announced was the first single-player DLC the season pass will offer: The Tyranny of King Washington," an alternate story that takes places in three episodes after the American Revolution. Aside from these three single-player episodes, more scheduled DLC will consist of more maps and characters for use in ACIII's multiplayer component. I'm no fortune teller, but if you read my educated guess prior to this update, you might think I am! Also of noteworthiness: The press release makes no mention of the season pass being available for the Wii U version of the game, which launches Nov. 20. However, Ubisoft does say all ACIII DLC will be available to Wii U owners. Whether it will have to be a la carte or if a season pass for Wii U players will eventually be available remains to be seen.
