Paul Dini likely won't write future Arkham games

Warner Bros. advised him to find other work after Arkham City's completion.

Paul Dini, the scribe behind Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, will likely not return to write future titles in the series, according to his own LiveJournal blog post.

"When I asked about the possibility of working on a third [Arkham] game I was told that, as Rocksteady had just finished wrapping the second one, it would be a while before everyone was ready to sit down and discuss future plans," wrote Dini in the post. "That said, it was intimated that for future games, Warner and Rocksteady might not be looking as much to freelance writers, the message being, that if I had something else interesting coming my way, I might want to take it. "

Dini took the advice and booked himself with project's that'll keep him busy at least until 2013, making any work on another Arkham title improbable until then at least. But with rumors already circulating that Rocksteady is hard at work on an Arkham prequel (or a Justice League game), Dini surmises the studio may have already filled its writer needs.

Still, he didn't entirely cut out the possibility of working with the UK-based studio again.

"It was fun working with [Warner Bros.] and Rocksteady on the first two Arkham games, and I am grateful to them both for a tremendous experience. Rocksteady has a great crew of artists and storytellers, and it was exciting and enlightening for me to be part of that team," he wrote. "If we wind up working together again at some point, that would be cool, too."
