A little late, but I hope you don't mind. Here's a look back at all the games I bought or recieved as gifts in 2007. If you have any comments or questions about anything on the list, don't be afraid to say something. Ape Escape 3 (PlayStation 2) - An enjoyable platformer. The second PS2 game I beat.Beyond Good and Evil (PlayStation 2)Burnout 3: Takedown (PlayStation 2) - One of my favourite games on the PS2. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS) - Mmm, Castlevania goodness.Dark Cloud 2 (PlayStation 2)Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (PlayStation 2) - I bought this one some time ago, but only started playing it recently. Great RPG.Drill Dozer (Game Boy Advance) - Fun platformer from the creators of Pokemon. Too bad no one bought it.Dungeon Lords Collector's Edition (PC)ESPN NHL 2K5 (PlayStation 2) - I haven't even opened it.Empires: Dawn of the Modern World (PC)Fire Emblem (Game Boy Advance) - The first one we got in North America. As someone who had already played and beaten two Fire Emblem games, I find the tutorial to be a bit annoying.GrimGrimoire (PlayStation 2)Gunpey (PSP) - Why do I own this game? I don't even have a PSP.Gunstar Super Heroes (Game Boy Advance)Half Life 1 Anthology (PC) - Half-Life is great. Steam... not so much.Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (DS) - Looking for a good adventure game for the DS? You found it.I-Ninja (PlayStation 2)Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (PlayStation 2)Jeopardy! Sports Edition (SNES)King's Quest Collection (PC)The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GameCube) - 8.8Mortal Kombat 3 (SNES)Musashi: Samurai Legend (PlayStation 2)NFL 2K3 (PlayStation 2)Namco Museum (Game Boy Advance)Odama (GameCube)Odin Sphere (PlayStation 2) - It has some slow-down issues, but it's a good game. I should get back into it.Pac-Man Collection (Game Boy Advance) - Yep. It's Pac-Man. And three other games that are sorta like Pac-Man.Pokemon Diamond (DS)Psychonauts (PlayStation 2) - If you haven't played it yet, it's available free on GameTap. So please play it.Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords (DS) - Damn great game. Very addictive.Ratchet & Clank (PlayStation 2) - For those of you keeping score, I prefer Ratchet and Clank over Jak and Daxter.Rave Master (GameCube) - I liked this anime-based fighing game.Rave Master: Special Attack Force (Game Boy Advance) - I can't say the same about this one.Raw Danger (PlayStation 2)The Red Star (PlayStation 2) - Very difficult, but very good.Scurge: Hive (DS)Sega Genesis Collection (PlayStation 2) - A bunch of great old games, and a few bad ones. And a better deal than downloading them on the Virtual Console.Shadow Hearts (PlayStation 2)Shadow of the Colossus (PlayStation 2) - In case you were wondering, this was the first PS2 game I beat.Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 (PlayStation 2) - I'm not playing it until I get the first one.Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 (PlayStation 2) - Fantastic game. I highly recommend it.Soul Nomad & the World Eaters (PlayStation 2)Space Channel 5 Special Edition (PlayStation 2) - A lot of people seem to like this game. I don't.Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (PlayStation 2)Steambot Chronicles (PlayStation 2) - Weird RPG. Or is it an RPG? I don't know.Summon Night: Swordcraft Story (Game Boy Advance) - Tales of Phantasia-esqe RPG with a neat weapon creation system.Super Mario All-Stars (SNES) - Four good-to-great games in one. How can you go wrong?Super Mario Kart (SNES) - I already owned this game, so now I have two.Taito Legends (Xbox) - See Gunpey.Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 (GameCube) - Not a good port. Also, why am I playing first-person shooters on a console?Wild Arms 3 (PlayStation 2)World in Conflict (PC) - Bought it for $20 on Boxing Day. Later learned that my video card isn't supported. Oh well.X-Men Legends (GameCube)XIII (GameCube)Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht (PlayStation 2) - I died on the final boss, gave up, and started playing Persona 3. I don't know if I'll try again.

pup - January 18, 2008 (10:42 PM) Burnout 3 - I'll second that notion. Grim Grimoire - Bought Odin Sphere instead, five months ago, and still haven't unsealed it. Hotel Dusk - For the love of... When will people stop recommending this game? Odama - Always wanted to try this. What's your take? Ratchet & Clank - Score another point for two of the greatest platforming heroes ever. Super Mario Kart - Don't you hate it when you forget your own game collection? X-Men Legends - Don't forget to try Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. |

Genj - January 18, 2008 (11:35 PM) * Beyond Good and Evil - Meh, this is a pretty overrated game by Internet folks. It's water-down Zelda. * Burnout 3: Takedown - I liked this game quite a bit and I'm not a big racing fan. * Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King - One of the best RPGs you can get for the PS2. I bought it a little over a month after release and played it off and on for quite some time (mostly due to Human Anatomy class kicking my ass). * Fire Emblem (Game Boy Advance) - I played this on emulator quite some time ago. Got near the end and quit out of boredom and frustration from my characters dying. * The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GameCube) - 9.0 * Mortal Kombat 3 (SNES) - Dude, I got this game on the day of release. It sucked. * Odin Sphere (PlayStation 2) - I could have gotten this for $31 new but didn't. Hurf durf! * Psychonauts - Long story short: was going to buy the Xbox version but found a semen stain (or possibly mayonnaise?) on the manual * Shadow of the Colossus - Gives me mad boners. * Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 - Writing a praise review now. * Star Ocean: Till the End of Time - Poop. * Super Mario All-Stars (SNES) - I have this. * Super Mario Kart (SNES) - I ROMed this. * Wild Arms 3 - I bought this for $10 and then fell asleep during a boss fight. * XIII - The X-Files was a cool show, ya know? * Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht - I got this back at release based on the greatness of Xenogears. Meh, it's not bad. Certainly miles ahead of the disaster of a sequel, but Part III is a lot more fun. |

EmP - January 19, 2008 (03:24 PM) Beyond Good and Evil - Meh, this is a pretty overrated game by Internet folks. It's water-down Zelda. Sometimes I think you're my evil twin. Or you're the good one and I'm your evil twin. Or whatever. |

lordandrew - February 06, 2008 (08:09 PM) To pup: I knew I had Super Mario Kart, but I received a number of SNES games for free. Who am I to turn down a free game? Odama's kind of iffy. I got it for $10, but I doubt I would pay full price for it. Some will like it; some will hate it. And perhaps I should check out out Ultimate Alliance some time. Thanks for the tip. To genj: Yeah, with all the hype about how great Beyond Good and Evil is, it seemed underwhelming once I got a chance to play it. Not bad, but not as great as people were making it out to be. Burnout seems to be popular among people who aren't normally fans of racing games. It can be really frustrating when party members die in the Fire Emblem games. I like to take breaks and go back to the game later. Semen stain? Ew! Mad boners... That's a good thing, right? So I guess you found Wild Arms 3 pretty boring, huh? Is it worth putting up with Xenosaga Episode II if I want to get to Episode III? To EmP: You're probably both evil. :) |
