Impulse Buys
November 13, 2006

Strange how some things make you go "OMGWTFBBQ! I want that!!" Normally, I try not to impulse buy - for some reason my pocketbook doesn't seem to like it. I'm the type that likes to research, analyze and compare, *think* about a purchase before I make it.

I am a proud new owner of a DS Lite. *sigh* I had no idea what kind of games are out there for it, didn't pay attention to it, have been out of the console/handheld gaming for a loooong time, let alone look at anything that had "Nintendo" on it. So there I was, standing in EB Games, going "Well, I got paid today, what can I spend my money on? Nintendo DS Lite, $130...that's not bad..." The thing that struck me when I pulled it out of its *tiny* box is how small it is...and it struck me that the DS Lite is just as powerful as by old Super Nintendo. Scary, huh? Probably has more power than my first computer, now that I think about it. For the record, I still have my GameBoy. The original one. Black and white. Weighs a TON compared to the DS.

Imagine my delight and glee when I found out that the DS accepts GBA games! Nostalgia is a powerful force, and "Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon" is eating my time.

Oh, and GameFly rents out DS and GBA games. That was enough to bump my membership up to two a month.

That's such a great game. Shining Force: Super-Long Subtitle, I mean.

If you haven't already checked it out, I recommend Riviera for another non-traditional RPG.

Thanks, I'll do that!

*hungrily looks for more RPGs*
