Mega Man X Guide > Walkthrough > Getting the Hadouken

Before we head to Sigma's fortress, let's hunt for one more upgrade. To get this super powerful weapon, you'll need all 8 Heart Tanks, all 4 Sub Tanks (full), all 4 capsule upgrades (legs, arms, head, and body), a bunch of lives, and all of the Mavericks' weapons.

Head to Armored Armadillo's stage. If your energy tanks aren't full or you don't have maximum lives, this is a great place to hunt for them. Charge up the Rolling Shield weapon to create a forcefield around you. This will make you invincible to the bats, so you can just run into them and steal their delicious life pickups. (The Flammingles will make your barrier disappear, though.) Remember that one bat that looks different from the others? Farm lives from that one.

Make your way all the way to the giant hole before the boss room. Have maximum health and weapons when you get here. (You can farm them from the bats after the second Mole Borer if you need them.) Jump from the now-airborn platform all the way to the right and land on a small platform with a health pickup on it. Take it if you want, then jump into the hole. Yup, hop right in there and die. You're going to want to do that four times, making sure to stand on the platform above the boss door each time. Don't worry if you land below it. Just climb the wall back up, then hop into the pit. After four deaths, make your way back to that ledge one more time.

Here you'll get the super powerful hadouken! Ok, it doesn't look that impressive, but it does 32 points of damage which is enough to one-shot most enemies, including bosses. The catch is that you can only use it when your health is full and when you're standing on the ground. Use it the same way you use it in Street Fighter, with a quarter circle motion from down to forward, followed by the attack button. You can also release a charged shot in place of pressing the attack button. Remember that the hadouken isn't saved with a password.

With that, either complete the stage or exit via the pause menu. It's time to track Sigma down.
