On to Freeze Man. Unsurprisingly, he is the top square on the stage select screen. The ground is slippery here, so you have less traction than normal. The polar bear enemy takes a lot of damage before going down, but his attack pattern is very simple. He creates a chunk of ice with his mouth and then bats it at you along the ground with his paw. Simply jump over it and sink as many shots into him as you can. Head right and up the ladders to the next area.



Here's another polar bear. Stay near the wall under it and its shots will fly right over you. Jump up and shoot it when you have an opening. Next you'll meet some shielded enemies that move horizontally. They're invincible head-on, but can be destroyed by shooting them from behind. You can often slide under them, including the second one you meet in this area.



Watch out for the icicles that fall from these enemies on the ceiling. The thin ice platforms will break shortly after you touch them. You can reach the items under the first set this way, but don't let the third platform crumble while you're on it and dump you onto the spikes. The icicles can be used as platforms, which you'll need to do when you reach a pit of spikes you can't jump across. (Get close to the enemies holding the icicles to bait them into dropping them.) Head right past some shield enemies and use Rush to jump up onto the fragile platform, and quickly hop up onto the ladder.



This H item is important. Deftly hop between the platforms to reach it. You can use Rush Coil to skip to the higher ice platform on the right. Then head down a couple of screens until you reach a standing shielded enemy, like the one you encountered in a previous stage. Defeat him and proceed farther down.



You'll want to stay on the high path here. There are no enemies up here. You can use Rush Jet to make this easier. At the end of the high road, you'll find Rush Search, which can find secret hidden things if used in the right spots. Hop down and use Danger Wrap on the otherwise-unbeatable Spiral Gabyoall, then destroy the turret on the right and proceed.



This polar bear is underground, giving him a second attack. He can roar to cause icicles to drop. You can use Rush Coil to skip this spot entirely, but it's worth it to destroy the robot and collect the E Tank behind him.



Watch out for these guys. They rush across the screen and then throw bouncing, rolling projectiles in an arc. Don't go into the boss door right away.



Use Rush Search right here to get a handy item. This will let you exit stages that you've cleared before. You can buy this from Auto but it's obviously cheaper to just get it here. Head through the boss door when you're ready.

Freeze Man is weak to Junk Shield. He's quick and he jumps high. His weapon has a variety of effects. If fired at the floor, it will send energy along the floor, so hop over it. The energy will freeze the floor, making it slippery. When fired at the ceiling, icicles will grow and fall in a wave to the left and right. They'll shatter the ice on the floor, giving you back your traction. When fired at the wall, it will just create a tiny burst and disappear. These attacks all work together to be more difficult as a set.

Junk Shield will interrupt his attacks, but he'll still be able to act as he's recovering. Get in, hit him with it, and get out until you're ready to hit him again.

You'll get the Freeze Cracker as a reward. This weapon creates a burst when it hits a surface. You can aim this weapon slightly by holding Up or Down as you fire it.
