Kirby: Triple Deluxe Guide > Story Mode > Royal Road - Stage 7 EX

You unlock this stage by finding all 12 Sun Stones available in the standard stages in Royal Road.

From where you first appear, you can float up and head left along the ledge to find a Wheel enemy. Destroy the blocks for some stars, then head back down and start toward the right. You'll make your way along several of the floating aquarium tanks. Watch out here for falling trees, which the lumberjacks in the background engineer. There also oversized marbles that will roll down chutes and launch toward the screen. Near the far right side of the area, you'll find a vortex that you should pass in favor of exploration. To the right, destroy a weak wall to reveal a hidden area with some enemies. Defeat them and collect a Keychain. Then backtrack and pass through the vortex.

Now you are at the right side of an icy corridor. To the left, there are the giant hands along the wall that like to spring forward and send Kirby flying. Carefully avoid them as you head left and reach a 3D Warpstar. Then head back right and still you have to be careful of the hands. There's also a clown enemy here, which you should absorb because you gain the ability to produce fire rings that can melt ice. To the right, you want to melt the ice (dash and press B while dashing) and drop down through the ledge the hands are guarding to find a door to the right of some spikes. Enter it.

In this room, you can float up to collect a Sun Stone. Then drop and absorb the enemy for the fire ability. Use it to melt the ice and drop down before a wall collapses on you from overhead and crushes you. Then head back outside and float right. Near the far right side of this area, you can find a Keychain floating over a pit. Then you can head back left and float onto the overhead ledge. Run right and pass through a vortex.

There's a Key on a ledge as you enter this new section of the stage. Grab the key and start to the right. The back wall is made up of blocks that will flash and then fill into the foreground. You can hop along them one at a time to reach a ledge to the upper right, where the Key will allow you to pass through a gate. Climb a ladder and then head back left. Take out the enemies (absorb the Cutter enemy if you like) and then carry another Key left and up another set of the blocks. You'll soon reach a third such room, and this one is tricky. You have to start by working your way up the blocks leading toward the upper right portion of the room, where you can grab some healing items. Then you can wait a moment before heading left and up a vertical shaft. You'll have to time your jump from the second-to-last to the last block carefully. Jump too early and it won't materialize in time. You could get squished. Jump too late and the result is the same. You may have to try a few times.

Once you get to the top of that set of blocks, pass through the vortex to arrive in an icy area. Overhead, a fiery, four way crossbar is rotating and wind is slowly pushing you toward the right. Head right, keeping within the safe opening between flaming poles, and you'll next have to pass some skiing enemies before coming upon a 3D Warpstar. Ride it into the background and head left. There are snowballs rolling out of a snowball hut. You can enter it for a 1up doll. Left from that hut, you'll find another of the spinning, fiery crossbars. You can drop down into recesses as you head left. Finally, you'll reach another vortex.

Through that vortex, you'll find a cradle and a bundle of dynamite. A statue breathes fire at you here. Wait for a fireball to pass, then grab the dynamite and jump into the cradle. Roll quickly left, then hop on a 3D Warpstar. In the foreground, run ride cradles quickly back to the right, leaping over a spiked orb on the way. Get to a weak wall and set the explosive charge. It'll clear the path a Keychain. Continue right from there, and you'll reach a huge chamber with a cradle. There are spinning, spiked arms attached to a column here. You need to ride the cradle along bars leading toward the lower right side of the room, where you will find an opening where some more dynamite is waiting. Grab it, then hop into the cradle and ride it back left. Set it on a brown block you find near the far left side of the area, to produce an opening. You can drop through that opening to find a hidden doorway, which you should enter.

The door leads to a chamber with a magic pen. You can grab it and destroy blocks in the background that will allow you to reach a chest, but be careful not to destroy the block on which the chest rests. The chest contains a Sun Stone. Grab it, then return to the passageway you were exploring. Hit the bomb block to your left, and continue in that direction to pass through another vortex.

Now you are once more in a room with the flashing blocks that like to come flying to the foreground and crush Kirby. You'll have to make your way toward the right, carefully dashing from one safe point to another. There are enemies along here, but you should be able to take care of them easily. In one long horizontal shaft, you can float up to grab some food and there's just enough room to stay above blocks as they pass underneath. Then you can run after them to reach the far side. In general, you should be moving along just behind blocks as they retreat to the backdrop, which gives you the most time to move without likelihood of harm. A vortex waits for you, just past some enemies, near the upper right side of the area.

The vortex leads to a lava-filled hallway. Journey to the right, between occasional waterfalls of lava. You'll come across one of the walls that likes to twist up from the backdrop, and there aren't a lot of safe points along the way. Dash from one to the next, and watch for a Fire enemy that you can inhale for that useful ability (or you can use a Circus enemy, but that's not as easy to maneuver). Just to the right from that enemy, there's a 3x3 stack of ice blocks. Melt them and you'll reveal a Key. Then you should hop up onto the overhead ledge and gulp down the Ice enemy. Once you've done that, drop back down and grab the Key. Head quickly right to a recess filled with magma blocks. Use your Ice ability to eliminate them and you can grab the Rare Keychain: Magolor.

Now you just need to continue right through the remainder of the area, passing through a vortex at the end. The vortex takes you to a new chamber, where you will see a large tank in the background, firing toward the foreground. Advance quickly right, and destroy a bomb block to drop the tank out of sight. Proceeding right from there, you'll find cannons that you can treat the same way. Near the second cannon, you can descend through an opening and find a weak wall. Destroy it for a Keychain. Further right from there, you can destroy more blocks as you advance. The Spear ability you can gain from an enemy along the way makes this easier.

Enter the vortex on the far right side of the area with the tanks and you'll next come to a chamber with another of the cradles. You can ride it to the right to reach a ledge where a Waddle Dee will toss you an Assist Star. Then you should ride the 3D Warpstar just to the right. It takes you to another cradle, which leads to a ledge where you can gain the Sleep or Beetle ability. Take the latter if you need it, then continue right for a mini-boss battle.

Mini-Boss: Hornhead DX

This fight is complicated by the spiked roof overhead, which prevents you from safely flying very high to avoid your foe's charges. It can still be done, but you'll need to be careful. He likes to perform a short charge, then turn and charge back at you as you pass overhead. The second charge usually winds up with him slamming into a wall, and then you can hit him a few times while he is dazed (using your ability or a star that he knocks loose). Sometimes, he'll fly overhead and then dive down, nose-first. If that happens, stay at a distance and you can inhale a chunk of rock that flies loose, if you don't have an ability. Otherwise, move in close and do some more damage with Beetle or a similar ability. Hornhead DX really isn't able to take much abuse.

Once you defeat Hornhead DX, gulp him down for the Beetle ability and continue right along the platform. You'll find two more ability capsules here, including the Sword ability. Grab it if you want, or keep Beetle, and catch a ride on a 3D Warpstar to another mini-boss.

Mini-Boss: Gigant Edge DX

This chamber is surrounded on three sides by spiked walls, and there's a cannon in the background that fires shots at you. This makes for rather cramped quarters, but Gigant Edge DX seems to produce quite a few more stars than normal, so the fight doesn't have to last very long even if you lose your Sword or Beetle ability and have to rely on stars to finish the job.

After you defeat Gigant Edge DX, a 3D Warpstar will appear. Ride it to an area just to the right, where you can ride a cradle to the right. A treasure chest waits on a ledge. You can open it for a Sun Stone. Then continue right to reach the goal door.
