Kirby: Triple Deluxe Guide > Story Mode > Royal Road - Stage 5

You'll appear here at the base of a vertical area. Hop up the ledges to ascend, watching out for enemies as you go. There's a 3D Warpstar at the top that will take you into the backdrop, where you can float up and enter a door.

In the new corridor, you'll immediately spot a vortex to the right. Enter it and hop along the large gems that lead to the right. This is a really cool area to see the 3D effect, if you're not typically playing with that setting in place. In any event, at the far right side of the area is a 3D Warpstar that'll carry you into the foreground, where you can head back to the left along some more of the gems. You will find a flower in a cage. Jump up and pull the switch to free the prisoner. You'll reappear in the chamber you just left, and your new friend will open the doorway so that you can proceed.

Through that glowing doorway, you'll reach a chamber with four vortexes. Start by entering the lower of the two vortexes just to the right. You will appear in a large chamber full of more of the oversized gems. Head a short distance right, taking care of enemies as you go, and you should spot a Beetle enemy on one of the back ledges. Ride a 3D Warpstar in the foreground to reach that background. Inhale and absorb the enemy, then continue right for a Keychain.

As you continue right through that area, watch for the next 3D Warpstar. Ride it into the foreground, then head left to where an enemy is positioned on a stake. Take out the enemy and then jump into the air over the stake and press B and Down to pound the stake into the blocks. You'll produce the sound of blocks being destroyed. Drop down around the lower side of the platform and you'll find the Rare Keychain: Golden Egg Statue hanging just beneath it. Grab it, then head right and take a 3D Warpstar into the backdrop. Head toward the right from there to find and free another flower prisoner.

Now you will appear back in the room with the door and the four vortex holes. One bar will be eliminated, and that suggests rather obviously that you'll have to pass through each vortex and eliminate any threat you find there to rescue more flowers and finally eliminate all of the bars across the door.

Enter the vortex in the upper right corner of the chamber next. It leads to a room with stone blocks. There's an enemy in the backdrop that fires at you as you proceed. Head right to find a Mobile Cannon, then use it as you descend through the area. As you reach the apparent base of the shaft, catch a ride on the 3D Warpstar and continue your descend along the backdrop, firing at the foreground to eliminate large blocks and drop a Key down to the bottom of the shaft. Now ride one more 3D Warpstar, so that you're back in the foreground. Destroy the last few blocks that you just hopped up along to reach that star and then pick up the Key. Return to the background and pass through the gate using the Key to obtain a Sun Stone. Now return to the foreground and head right (being careful of the enemy that explodes as you get near) to free another prisoner.

The next vortex to enter is the one positioned along the upper left corner of the room with the door and bars. It leads to another room with the large floating gems. An enemy will toss you an Assist Star here, and just to the right of that you can hop on a 3D Warpstar to ride into the backdrop. Start right again, and absorb a Needle enemy that you find along that route, if you wish. Keep going and you'll find another 3D Warpstar that takes you into the foreground. As you head to the right here, you'll meet a mini-boss.



Mini-Boss: Bonkers


By now, you know just what to do with Bonkers. Let him get close, then after he swings his hammer, poke him a bunch of times with your Needle ability. You can also fire stars, if you lose your ability.



After you defeat Bonkers, absorb him and continue right along more of the gem platforms. You'll find a switch you can hit to drop a key onto a lock and open a special door. In the foreground, continue onward to reach a 3D Warpstar. Ride it into the backdrop and head left, pausing to enter the door.

The door leads to a room with sliding blocks, rope, and a cannon. You can use your hammer's flaming ability (hold the Up and B buttons and then unleash it) to light the rope, then drop into the cannon. Now, there's only the matter of tilting the screen in the proper direction at the right time as the flame burns, so that it can fire the cannon. To do so, first tilt the blocks all the way right. Let the fire pass. The next time fire and rope meet, the fire should start up the center rope on the bottom block, which you should then slide right to meet the vertical piece of rope at the center level, between the two sliding blocks. That fire needs to connect to the left piece of rope on the upper block, which you should then slide to the far left so it connects to rope overhead. As that burns, slide the two blocks to the far right to meet the flame with more rope. Then, as the fire starts down the rope on the top moving block, slide the blocks quickly to the far left and you're done. The cannon will fire you up and through an opening so you can grab a Sun Stone. Then you should pull a switch to eliminate some blocks. Drop down and head left to find and rescue another flower prisoner.

Now you'll appear back in the main chamber with the door and vortexes. There is only one vortex left now, the one along the lower left side of the room. Enter it next.

Through that vortex, you'll find a mostly empty corridor. Here, you need to watch the back wall. It is comprised of square blocks. They will flash in Tetris-shaped formations, and then you have just a split-second before those blocks slide quickly to the foreground and smash you if you're in the way. Move carefully right, taking care of enemies but focusing mostly on those flashing blocks. Along the way, you can float up for an easy Keychain. Continue right from there and you'll find a flower prisoner. Pull the lever to free the prisoner and return to the main lobby.

You now have passed through all four vortexes, but there's still a bar left across the door. Accordingly, a new vortex appears overhead. Pass through it.

In the new chamber, you'll find more of the blocks that fly toward the screen. You're in a cramped space. You'll have to avoid three blocks until you're left standing in the upper right quadrant of the room, at which point a door will appear for you to enter. On the other side of that door, you'll need to repeat the process, but in a larger space. Pass through another door and find yourself in yet another such room. Here, you'll have to survive several patterns (easiest to do if you are floating and then drop as needed) to finally make another door materialize. Enter it.

Through that doorway, you'll start along a passageway with block walls. There are enemies along here, in the background and foreground also. Absorb one of the ones in the foreground for the Spear ability, and stab a bomb block along the roof for a restorative item, if you need it. Further right from there, you'll be able to destroy a block wall to discover a Keychain. And still further right from there, you'll discover another flower prisoner. Free it, as usual.

Back in the main lobby, the prisoners will open the door for you and you can finally pass through.

The door leads to an area with another prisoner in the background. Head along the foreground, watching as you go in order to avoid being hit with flaming breath by the enemies along the back ledge. You will come upon some Miracle Fruit. Scarf that down and keep advancing. You can gobble down an enemy, then free another prisoner, who will reveal a 3D Warpstar. Ride it into the backdrop and head left, where you can eat the enemies you saw and then free the prisoner they were guarding.

Now you'll be able to ride another 3D Warpstar into the foreground. Ascend here, taking out the enemy as you go and freeing another prisoner. Ride the star it produces, which carries you to ladders and an enemy overhead. Take out the enemy and you'll see a 3D Warpstar. Ride it quickly to the foreground to collect a Sun Stone, then return to the backdrop. Keep climbing the vertical area and you'll find more enemies and a large block. Use Hypernova to suck the block left so that it falls into the space occupied by the enemies. Then free the prisoner to reveal a doorway. Pass through it.

You will appear in the room with two hammer-wielding gorillas. Float above them and get off to one side, then scarf them down and climb a ladder to find and free another prisoner. Then ride a 3D Warpstar into the background and quickly run right. The overhead platform will crumble and enemies will rain down. Use Hypernova to eat them all, then climb again and ride another 3D Warpstar. Now you'll see three of the large wheel enemies. Take out the two nearby ones immediately. They're in the foreground. Then be ready to avoid the third as it comes rolling forward to join its departed fellows. Gulp it down and you'll reveal another 3D Warpstar. Ride that star into the background and then climb and head left to reach a floating gem platform with the stage's final Sun Stone resting on it. Then return right and head to the foreground.

Climb the ladder to your upper left now, and you'll reach another prisoner. Free it and ride a 3D Warpstar to the upper right, where a final group of enemies waits. Gulp them all down, then head to their right and free another prisoner. This one will produce a star that you can ride to a new, grass-covered ledge where Flowery Woods is waiting. Scarf him down with the Hypernova ability and some friends will fly in with the goal door. Enter it to complete the stage.
