(minor point: it was developed by Level-5, not "Studio 5" and published by Bandai-Namco. The Switch version is a port of the PS3 remaster/remake of a DS game. I know Ghibli staff had a big role in the DS version; I've always been curious how much they were involved in the PS3 version and derived ports)

I've been considering this game as an introduction to RPGs for my 8 year old (who's always enjoyed Totoro, Ponyo, and Kiki) but she likes her games very easy--like, she plays as Nabbit in SMBU or kills herself repeatedly to get the white raccoon suit in SM3DW kind of easy. So how easy is easy for this game?

My apologies. I suppose I was typing Studio Ghibli so many times, I just got it mixed up in my mind accidentally. I made the change and edited it, hopefully, it shows soon.

I don't think it is a hard game, but I am speaking as someone who has played 200 or even 300 RPGs in my life. I think it is an excellent intro to the genre and far better than what passed as "intro" in the 90s (Mystic Quest). If she doesn't mind taking it slow and building her familiars any spike of difficultly is gradual and not too significant. Give it a shot!
