Great review! I've been wanting to playing this game for years, but I haven't found motivation to pick it up. This and Tales of Phantasia are such technical marvels (which is no surprise given the shared techical staff between the two).

I really enjoyed the remake on PSP, and they've since released it on Switch and PS4, as well, ensuring that the game is readily available and in good shape for modern players to enjoy. I wish they would hurry up and bring the remake of the second one to newer systems also. Right now, it's only on PSP, which isn't convenient. I have it in my collection and all, but older PSP hardware has battery issues.

"Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought." - John F. Kennedy on reality

"What if everything you see is more than what you see--the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn't? You either dismiss it, or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you'll find many unexpected things." - Shigeru Miyamoto on secret doors to another world2
