Nice review. This game has a certain sentimental value for me, and I played it in its 'heyday' with a friend so the enjoyment possible from it was at its peak... but that hit detection. Yup. And I remember the dumb two-part jump kicks. They were working so well in the early levels and then, the horror! when suddenly you need to land two to take a guy down once. What a joke. All that said, there's a certain weird timing you can use to punch kill every enemy but it's slow and not much fun to dispatch enemies like that.

Played this back when it was fresh too and my main take away was how colorful it looked. Then I decided to give it a go again ten years later because of the memories and... that was the first time I noticed the hit detection, ha. I think that may have been the beginning of me thinking "Oh, these Double Dragon games and ports are... something."
I head spaceshit noises. |
