My wife is currently playing Darksiders II on my recommendation. It's by far my favorite in the series, although I haven't played Genesis yet. If you get around to it I'll be looking forward to your review of that one too. Quite liked this first entry as well.

Right now, I've made it to the World of the Dead and am right outside the Arena. Yeah, I like it a fair bit better. I mean, there is the nagging worry that I've seen Voidwalker things in a few places, but haven't gotten the ability yet, so I can envision a whole dungeon where I do nothing but that, like in the first game, but overall, I like the dungeons a lot more. Both Lost Temple and Foundry were just great and Drenchfort was really good, too. I also like how the dungeons have a larger focus, with the world itself basically being a hub, more or less. Think I've already done about as many dungeons as there were in the first game and I don't even think I'm halfway through.

About the only negative experience I had was my brief trip to The Scar. I noticed enemies were dealing WAY more damage than previously. Then I had this hellish climb upward while instant-death lava chased me that nearly broke me. And then I realized my L11 Death was fighting L17 foes and decided to put off the rest of the dungeon for a bit.

I do love the Possessed Weapon addition. Allows all the vendor trash enemies drop to have a purpose and it's cool as hell to upgrade weapons so you can regen health or whatnot from hitting, critical-ing or killing enemies, while getting defense and strength boosts from doing so.
