This review offered a fascinating look at Nintendo history I simply didn't know, because I haven't delved into much of anything Nintendo-developed that for one reason or another never left Japan. There was some nice humor throughout, including the self-deprecating bit about the battle mechanics where you noted that it sounded like it might get old before the reader even had time to finish the paragraph (which worked even better because you were sort of right). So overall, this review is excellent and the only further feedback I have to offer is a line crit:

Turning into a snake or turning into a human requires a consumable item (which is readily available); hoping to frog form requires the Prince to touch water.

"hoping" > "hopping"?

It’s desert, ice cavern, lake, island, and mountain all interconnect in ways that make you feel like it’s a much grander place than it is, a necessary illusion due to the Gameboy’s storage limitations.

"Its" at the start.

These two perspectives feel consistently used and as the player switches between them, the shift feels transparent and natural.

Maybe say "These two perspectives are consistently..." to avoid using a variation of "feel" too often in the single sentence?

The overworld and towns are shown with a three-quarter’s top-down perspective.

The apostrophe in "quarter's" doesn't feel like it belongs to me, or even the "s" for that matter. The term is generally written as "three-quarter view."

"Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought." - John F. Kennedy on reality

"What if everything you see is more than what you see--the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn't? You either dismiss it, or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you'll find many unexpected things." - Shigeru Miyamoto on secret doors to another world2

Thanks--I've made those fixes. My proofreading is gross.

This was developed by R&D1 (Gunpei Yokoi's Gameboy team) and Intelligent Systems; Link's Awakening was EAD. I think there's might some interesting history here, but I couldn't find any first-hand dev accounts focused on this and not Link's Awakening.

Link's Awakening is my favourite Zelda (which, I've learnt, I'm significantly more vocal bout than I thought...) so this review is relevant to my interests. I genuinely did not know about the game or any of the, ahem, Links within, so appreciate this review. I'll try and work this game into the pile of games I'me forever trying to play.

@EmP, this game is so short and easy (by design) that it's easy to fit in when you're looking for something that's good but doesn't require much work. It's the Dark Souls of not being Dark Souls.

Considering your tagline, it'd also be remiss of me not to welcome you into Team Pun. Excellent work - I'd have mentioned in my initial post, but I guess I frogot.
