There's a lot to be said for games with simpler mechanics and fewer layers obscuring what is actually reflex training. Bomberman isn't tryharding, and that's a relief.

Nice perspective. I haven't tried this NES version; I grew up on the Turbografx game, which was awesome and allowed for 5-player simultaneous play which was incredible. (And still is.)

I've decided to follow through with this franchise in its various releases - though how far I go with that remains to be seen - and I've already beaten Bomberman II for NES... it's quite a change up. Bomberman is one of those understated franchises that has a very long running history, so there's a lot to explore.
