And this game is still the best!

I can't remember a game that I played more than once where the overall enjoyment diminished as much from the first time to the second as this one did. First time through, I loved almost all of it. Second time through, it had good moments, but the parts I didn't like turned into hate-playing (particularly the "freeze and heat up the card while walking a lot" deal near the end) and because I knew how things transpired, I wasn't so into it in that "play on to see what happens next" sort of way.

@overdrive - Seeing what happens next really is a trademark of Kojima games; they're seldom predictable. I found it interesting to see how the plots of future games influenced this one, but that was a topic better suited for a review of one of the later games. I'll review them at some point; for all its rough edges, MGS 2 in particular fascinates me, though I'd say pretty much every entry improves upon the prior one.

@Cap'n - We'll agree to disagree, but even though I find it severely flawed in many aspects, I'll always have good memories of this one! If you're up to some more stealth goodness from the same year, stay tuned for my next review.
