Wonderful review, pick. You nailed exactly what I love about this game. It's procedurally generated, but the rooms aren't just bland bits of nothing carelessly strung together. The developers actually took their time designing rooms. That's what separates this one from lousier roguelikes. Ugh, Larva Mortus...

I now regret looking up Larva Motus after you mentioned it...

Thanks for reading! Rogue Legacy always seemed like a fun game from a distance, but I was pleasantly surprised by its quality when I finally got around to playing it. I did a couple more hours after completing the review, but I had to stop for now; I fear I won't move on to a new game if I keep continuing with Rogue Legacy!

It's scary how many games are like that, and I own a number of them. If developers all got together and stopped producing games tomorrow, I would still have more games available than I can hope to play for the rest of my life... perhaps even without branching outside my current selection, which is of course only a drop in the bucket compared to the sheer volume of titles available. I don't know why more people aren't interested in game reviews, given the impossibility of playing everything. It makes sense to want to track down those experiences that are most worth your time, since there's not enough of it.

I've said this numerous times elsewhere on the net, but if another video game crash happened, I wouldn't even be mad. Gives me the opportunity to play all the games I've missed without having to worry about new ones.

Though, this would be under the assumption that things pick up again in three to four years...

I've made the same comments myself, though I think I could probably survive the rest of my life busily playing only the games that are released and available thus far. I wouldn't welcome such a crash, but I would easily enough survive it, and so would any others who aren't married to the notion that games have to look as amazing as current technology will allow. Think how many years of great retro games we have available to return to that some people don't even consider viable entertainment. It's one of the ways being old is actually okay...
