Heh, under my guidance, the Besaid Aurochs still haven't won a match. I've just finished FFX and it's still the best game ever. Moving onto X-2 soon... with a 100% checklist handy.

While I'm probably an FFVII fanboy for life, as far as overall effect on me, FFX is definitely my favorite of the Final Fantasies in terms of overall polish and tightness. The script is the best written, hands down, and it's maybe the only FF with a legitimately effective ending (okay, minus Shadow's ending in FFVI).

FFX-2 is a terrible terrible story but maybe one of the most fun games in the series. Colorful, exciting, fast-paced, and pushes the limits of what the Active Battle System can do. I love that aspect of it, but I can't let anyone see me play it out of sheer embarrassment.

With me, I ended up with the Aurochs opening up a can on every team, and nearly got a double digit score in a few games.

As for this review, there are a few things you missed in this. For one, this FFX has the Dark Aeon battles and Penance (the major addition in the IV here).

As for your viewpoint on X2, I have to disagree there. I thoroughly enjoyed the mechanics of it. It brings back the ATB system in a way that allows you to make combo attacks in which each added attack is more powerful the further along it is in the chain (from any of the three members), and that alone forces you to find new strats for familiar enemies (don't have all that time to decide your next move anymore). You also neglect to mention the multiple endings that game has (and how visiting every place every chapter and doing everything in those places contributes to a perfect ending), or how you can grow each girl's Dressphere to where one girl's, say, Warrior DS may be further developed than the others, making planning for a battle an even deeper thought. I think you might've not enjoyed the story because you didn't visit those side areas (and the significance of the "concert" became lost there, too: there are two that they do in the game, with the starting one being done by an impostor, and the other I...won't spoil for you). I'm not actually ashamed to admit I like that game because of how much they did with the mechanics of it. It's sort of like how FF13-2 was better than FF13.
