Hey, that's really cool! I'll wait till I get paid and then I'll download it. I always wanted to check it out.

Thanks for the shout-out to my review, even if that particular piece of writing is four years old and (to put it mildly) not up to my current standards. I do stand by everything I said in it, though. Terrific style, wonderful battle system and a story that really jumps out and surprises you. Definitely one of the all-time best explanations for a main character having amnesia.

I'm playing through the Ipod version now. I didn't play the DS version; this one is a little different where combat is concerned. It's not dual screen (for obvious reasons) which at first disappointed me because it seemed like such an integral part of the experience. But I've come to appreciate very quickly what they did. Rather than try and shove a port onto a system which it wasn't designed for (read: which is pretty much what every other port in the history of the ipod has done), they instead revamped the entire combat system to make much more use of the touch screen controls. I wish I did have the DS experience for when I review it, so I could make a full comparison, but so far what I can say is based on youtube videos and reviews of the DS version is that (a) the touch screen controls seem much smoother here than they look on the DS and (b) the combat is faster paced and the enemies attack a lot more often. Your partner still jumps in and still has their own special abilities, but it's no longer controlling two battles at once. Instead the focus here is all on timing your attacks to match up with your semi-AI-controlled partner and wearing the right combinations of pins to best connect with your partner's attacks.

That feeling of needing to finish a game always comes with mixed emotions for me... usually I don't put a game down unless something about it was getting tiresome. But there are many games I find tiresome and still feel invested in, ya know?

Man, this game is like if you mixed FLCL and Persona into the Kingdom Hearts costumes, threw in battle royale, and then gave it to Sudo 51 to direct. It's pretty excellent.
