Geez, you got me excited and I'm not even a sonic fan. But $5 for the iphone version, huh? And you think that one's the best version?

Myself, I'd be more likely to go with the PSN version, which I believe we have also reviewed on the site. I'm skeptical that I could enjoy an iPhone version, since I hate touch screen controls (especially for games that require anything close to precision or timing). I believe the game is included on a Sonic Gems Collection compilation that I have for GameCube, as well. I keep meaning to play it so that I can finally experience this game. Then I don't.

Anyway, this was a neat review that was mostly well-written and organized pretty nicely. I hope you'll stick around the community so we can enjoy more reviews from you down the road!

Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you'll find many unexpected things." - Shigeru Miyamoto on secret doors to another world2

Good review. I disagree, but good review anyway. :p

I think the version included in Sonic Gems Collection might have some problems. I remember having some issues with the spindash in that version, but I only really played it once and it was a long time ago.

Playing on a small touch screen is a hard sell for a game like this. I think this review needed to address the controls and it really didn't.

Forgot to add this, but honestly, I didn't mind the touch controls. To me, it's pretty much like playing with an invisible dpad and button and it does work well.

If nothing else, I would like to know why that's the best version to control, yeah.

Agreed. I'm curious as to what makes this version superior to the other ports. It's not clear from the review.

Well, from what I played on the Sega CD version, it was really frustrating to try travelling through time due to a lot of physics/collision detection issues, like when you couldn't get enough reach or flat ground. This remake fixes all of those buggy aspects making it much easier to gain a constant speed.

And is that all versions of the remake, or just the iphone version? I'm just trying to figure out which I should pick up.

I understand the changes from the original. I'm curious about this part: "IPhone, which many would say is the definitive version of this port".

What differs from the Xbox and PS3 versions that makes it definitive? That's what I'm trying to ferret out here.

It's the same remake made for Iphone, 360, and PS3, so it's all a matter of preference. I personally like playing this game on the go with my Iphone, but if you don't prefer touch controls, the console versions are practically identical.
