Boy, I don't know. A new MGS could be amazing, free as it is from the confines of the established plot, which has been wrapped up (the only thing MGS4 actually accomplished, in my opinion). But at this point I'm just waiting for a reboot, like they've done with every other series on the planet except Resident Evil (which doesn't count, because they keep remaking every damn game).

I'm calling it here and now: the game is going to be a dating simulator where Hal finds his one true love!

But honestly, I have no idea where they're gonna take the story now since a lot of it has been wrapped up in that train-wreak of a plot for MGS4. Then again, they could pull a MGS3 and set the plot in an earlier time, possibly between MGS2 and 4's gap. As for a reboot, I dunno. Kojima seems to pride himself on creating this big universe for Metal Gear, which spans decades. The only way I can see a reboot anytime soon is if Kojima retires or passes on.

I'm sure they can just clone Solid Snake again and have him wake up in the distant future or something. With a talking dinosaur sidekick.

Just updated the article, guys. Looks like MGS5 is not a thing... yet. But, by all means. Keep speculating on the plot. It's... entertaining. :)

Yeah, I don't want them to do any more in-the-past-with-Big-Boss things. I mean, they already have done two PSP games which focus on Big Boss. We don't need any more and, anyway, after that point it would just be him getting beaten up by Snake on the NES...

If they do another MGS game in the past, I'd bet it would take place with The Boss as the main character leading her Cobras in the aftermath of WWII. And you know, that might actually be interesting. It would be the first time the main character of an MGS game would be a female. Hell, of pretty much any Konami game.

I don't think Kojima would make an MGS game where Snake or his ancestor or one of his descendants/clones didn't play at least a small part in the proceedings. Also, you gotta have some form of Metal Gear in it. Even MGS3 had Shagohod, which was kind of MG-like.

Sadly, the thought of a new MGS just tires me out. I think I'm done with the series.

I've enjoyed all the MGS games, even 4 (well, the parts of it that were actually game rather than covert movie), but it should be left there. The story finished, most of the characters concluded everything they were doing. Stop flogging this horse!
