For the most part I found the review to be a good satire of the game. However;

(And anyway, this ridiculousness still doesn’t explain why the town of Nibelheim is still completely intact, and why its inhabitants have no memory of this event ever happening...

It's actually explained in-game that Shinra covered up the incident by rebuilding the town and recruiting people to live there and act as if nothing ever happened.

I was going to write a FF7 bash review for the TT '07 once, but I ended up writing something lame instead.

I actually fell asleep while reading this review since it was so long. I woke up at 4 in the morning and finished it.

This review is atrocious. The evidence that it cites against the game is flimsy at best and factually inaccurate at worst. I hope this review is intended to be a satire -- but even if it is a satire, it's not a very good one.

Funny stuff, but I get irritated when my CC review almost gets rejected for "trolling" even though I was serious, and had to put up a big argument just to get it posted, and this review is clearly joking but was accepted also. But like I said, really funny stuff overall.

Yeah, I agree with the whole "Falling asleep" thing. This review was nearly as long as the game itself, and not quite as entertaining. And when I say not quite, I mean not even in the realm.

I enjoyed the review. Just because you don't agree with something is no reason to damn it.

As for who wrote it? Modifying the PSX focus window -- not the brighest idea. Especially if you cared about really hiding behind the alt. You seem to be the only one who can't see the little 'Yes' bubble atop the page that puts them on the front page.

It's not you.

You suck at alt accounts and blow the whistle on the good ones belonging to others.

I enjoyed the review. Just because you don't agree with something is no reason to damn it.

It's not a matter of disagreeing, it's just not that godd. It's too long, redundant, contains factual inaccuracies, and is redundant. It reads more like "ok, I'm going to make fun of everything about this game because it's part of this game, even if that doesn't make sense."

So in that sense, it can't really be taken seriously regardless of whether or not one agrees or disagrees. It probably wasn't intended to be taken seriously anyway, but the only way I can really read it then is as a satire of people that write poor reviews of popular games because they are popular -- except this one is way too long to hold the reader's attention for that purpose. As for the actual content, I don't think anything here is particularly humorous, like it sets out to make fun of the game but the author's heart really isn't in to it enough to get anywhere.

(I hope one of the staff didn't write this, because it'll be embarrassing if I have to backpedal over this post!)

You'd think there'd be a little more substance to something this long, but it's mostly sarcasm and exaggeration.

It's not me. Although, some time, I should rewrite my FF VII review. The one I have up is one of my earlier works and comes in at a "DID HE TALK ABOUT EVERYTHING IN THE GAME?!?!?!?!" 11KB (something like 1700-1800 words, I think).

Although, over the years, I've mentioned possibly rewriting any number of older reviews, but haven't done so yet. So, this could just be a wasted post. In fact, I think it is.

Sometimes, it's worth updating a focus window without putting it on the front page. For example, if there are two staff reviews for differing systems posted on the same day, it's worth updating both but only choosing to put the scheduled one on the front page. This allows other consoles to continue with frequent updates.

Though in the case of this Billy_theMonkey review, I'm not convinced that ANY focus window should have been updated to feature it. I enjoyed the review more than some of you seem to have, but it's not entirely justified in receiving focus window promotion.

"What if everything you see is more than what you see--the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn't? You either dismiss it, or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you'll find many unexpected things." - Shigeru Miyamoto on secret doors to another world2

Was this on the front page or something? As one of the few people capable of editing the focus window, I can assure you that I am not responsible for that.

Front page, no. But I question the decision making skills of the person who thought it should be displayed in a focus window at all. Even if it's just on the PSX page.

Talking like I don't already know who it is adds drama.
