Fire Fire Revolution
June 06, 2007

I actually heard of Fire Fire Revolution many months before GameSpot posted a sidebar article on it, but the idea of having real-life consequences for video games is an intruiging yet dangerous one. Would you play Counter-Strike if you were given an electric shock every time you were hit? I mean, much of the reason why people play is to have a space which the players understand that there are no real-life consequences (exluding the lack of sleep and affection towards your lover).Still, would you play a game that had outside effects, like being dumped into a water tank if you were defeated in a fighting game or slapped on the wrist with a ruler every time you did poorly in Brain Age? How far would you go? And which games would such an addition be cool?

I'd love to give games like that a shot. I mean, I don't want it to necessarily become the only way to play a game, but I think it would be a fun and unique thing to try.
