The Phantom Pain: In the comment section of my MGSV Spoiler blog entry, I implied I was getting ready to write a MGSV: TPP review. That was a week ago. I've only written one paragraph. I know what I want to write.... it's just that I can't keep away from the game long enough to write more, and whenever I'm actually in the mood, I either have to go to work or sleep.
At the very least, I'm mainly writing this very brief blog entry to push myself into actually finishing the rest of the review before October begins. DO IT!
Since I want to reserve my thoughts for the review, I'll just mention my current status with the game: I've logged in approximately 112 hours playing The Phantom Pain, I just completed the last ten of 157 Side-Ops today, I've yet to complete the last three optional main missions because "ehhhh", and I've recently got the final Battle Dress upgrade for my FOB soldiers, so that their heads can be shielded from easy hits.
As for who I think is the best buddy in the game (spoilers??), that easily goes to D-Dog. His awareness is amazing, and he's incredibly useful at close range "stealth" attacks when you buy suits for him. As for Quiet, I think she's overrated as a buddy. Even once I finally got silenced rifles for her, I still found her usefulness questionable over D-Dog. Honestly, her ability to quietly take out soldiers become void once they start wearing helmets and shields. D-Horse was really useful at the beginning of the game, but that quickly vanished once I found faster ways to travel around. I only used D-Walker once in combat for a specific battle. The robot's cool, but not really practical when compared to the other buddies, unless you're going for an explosive run of the game.
-MOVIE-
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978): I think my reason for wanting to watch this came from viewing the Honest Trailer for The Happening, and thought to myself, "Wasn't there another, older movie with a similar premise?" So I decided to watch the 1978 remake for the first time. Man, what a bleak movie. I'm glad it was, too, because about 60 or so minutes in, with no actual "solution", I was concerned the movie was gonna pull a last minute deus ex machina out of its ass. Then the last 5 or so minutes happened, and I was like, "Good." Of course, Donald Sutherland knocks it out with that ending, but major props to Veronica Cartwright for selling it in that very brief shot.
