We are right in the middle of the craziest time of the year for gamers. Between late September and early December I'd say at least 75% of the year's good games, highly anticipated games, and franchise sequels hit the shelves.
I know the logic is that these games will all sell well because of Christmas, but to me many of these games could do better if they were released at a time when there weren't a bunch of other high profile games to compete with.
I, along with almost everyone else can afford one or two games a month. I also really only have the time to thoroughly play through a few games this time of the year. I usually end up buying more games than I have time to play and eventually at least one of them gets forgotten. Or just keeps getting buried behind newer games I want to play more.
I'm curious what other people on this site handle the gaming madness at this time of year. The video store a few blocks from my house has gotten better lately about getting new releases so I might try renting more this year.

honestgamer - November 11, 2007 (09:05 PM) I feel your pain but I don't have a solution to offer. Basically, I go through the same thing. This year I'm 'fortunate' in that I have no money to spend, so I probably won't get any of them beyond maybe Super Mario Galaxy and Call of Duty 4 (which is supposed to be on its way to me from Activision after my participation in the beta). Those two games should keep me busy for a long while. Assassin's Creed, which I'd like, will probably drop in price before I can get it. |
