still havent watched Sony's conference but did watch Nintendo's and i admit it was impressive but still i would like to point out that out of the 10 games that they showed MAJORITY were sequels or 're-imagining' of old franchises and not original IPs.....so i stand by my previous post that besides the 3DS Nintendo also built upon stuff already there......

honestgamer - June 17, 2010 (01:04 PM) E3 isn't a good place to judge what's coming for any system in terms of indie gaming. Most independent games that we see each year were never shown at E3, because E3 is a time to bring out "the big guns" that will show that a system can sell in the coming year and that it has known titles to get excited about. Sequels satisfy that perfectly, so of course they'll be the point of focus. 3DS already has a lot of people excited because of the sequels and remakes announced, as it should. You can bet that there'll be plenty of original content, too, some of it very good. The Xbox 360 will have more than just Halo: Reach and Gears of War 3, too. In fact, a lot of original content was shown for Kinect. It's just that no one cared because it's not stuff that falls within established franchises. |

blood-omen - June 17, 2010 (10:07 PM) maybe they should change the focus for once then????E3 2011 should be all about indie games and original IPs rather than the big guns..... IGN gave 'Rage' a new game from id software the best game overall of E3 2010 and this game wasnt there in any of the press conferences even though it will be a multi-platform release........ |

honestgamer - June 18, 2010 (03:35 PM) No offense, but changing the focus of E3 is an absurd idea. There needs to be an event for the big games to make their splash, and E3 has been that event for more than 20 years. Why change it? If you want to see indie games, check out one of the events set up to showcase those. They do exist and there's nothing wrong with them. Here, it feels like you're asking a Cadillac to be a Hyundai, a delicious orange to be an underwhelmig apple. |
