9 platforms in 9 weeks for the team tourney. That was a fun, outside goal I thought I could pull off.
It fell apart with my Apple Decathlon review tonight, as I don't have any good Turbografx games to review & the planned one never felt tourney-worthy or special. A planned upcoming review was for the Apple, but it should still go forward.
Now I conceivably have an SG-1000 game I could review, but where to fit it in? It's a puzzle game, and the judges don't want/deserve that. Heck, I don't want to suffer through writing it. Or I don't see a way writing for it would not be suffering. Yet. Besides, that 2nd Apple game? Is cool. As hell.
Oh well...I still hit a bunch of new platforms, in the tourney and in general. A lot of stuff I can't use for the tourney or don't have the enthusiasm to have a shot at writing something good for is in a "to write in the future" file, so that's good. And it's good I'm being choosy about this.

aschultz - July 23, 2009 (12:48 AM) Suskie had 5 in 5, too, and he did that without noticing. I think the team tourney naturally lends itself to variety in platforms because people want to go in for variety in general, and it may not specifically be platforms--maybe genres etc. And some platforms are stronger in some genres than others. ...but on the other hand, how new are your reviews? P.S. wait, you wrote a Metal Slug review, so that shouldn't count, period. Ha ha. |

bluberry - July 23, 2009 (12:55 AM) I'm surprising myself, honestly. 2 new ones and one heavily edited one, plus the other 2 haven't been in TTs before. I didn't think I'd have it in me. it's pretty cool how a lot of us are writing new shit, though, I guess if anything that's motivation. |

woodhouse - July 23, 2009 (07:21 AM) I'm stuck at 1. One platform for the entire tourney! I can do it! |

aschultz - July 23, 2009 (08:33 AM) Bluberry-=maybe the trash talk didn't come across at 2 AM so well, but that's still quite impressive. A lot of people seem to be contributing new stuff, and it doesn't seem rushed. Probably knocking off games they wanted to write up for a while. ETA: my reviews are pretty new, Decathlon and Bloodstone being written before but majorly revised now. Woodhouse--well, you get some unusual games in there, so that makes up for it. |
