Aliens vs. Predator
Army of Two: The 40th Day
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Brütal Legend
Darksiders
Just Cause 2
Resonance of Fate
The Saboteur
Wolfenstein
Yakuza 3
This list is comprised mostly of new-ish titles, so if you have any other suggestions you can feel free to mention them, although the rental place near me has a fairly limited selection. (Like, they don't even carry Uncharted 2, so I had to trudge all the way down to the Blockbuster on Oregon Avenue last semester to play it.)

Suskie - April 06, 2010 (08:13 AM) I was leaning towards that one a bit, though if I go with a meatier game like that, I may just save it for the weekend to give myself more time with it. I assume it's not a problem that I haven't played the first two? |

zigfried - April 06, 2010 (08:18 AM) I hope not, I didn't play the first two either. I'm going to play that this weekend. Thought it'd be cool to have some opinion-sharing going on. //Zig |

Genj - April 06, 2010 (08:20 AM) Before going into Yakuza 3 be prepared for the fact the localization is complete shit. Brutal Legend is kind of a mess so I'd go for the other games first. |

EmP - April 06, 2010 (09:55 AM) I'd skip over AvP. It's vastly dissapointing. ...but the sound effects are bloody fantastic. |

Suskie - April 06, 2010 (12:50 PM) Rentals are only four bucks so it's not a huge waste if something isn't great. I mean, I'm debating renting Rogue Warrior out of sheer morbid curiosity. Still, thanks for the heads-up. I've heard as much. Turns out my roommate already rented Darksiders, so I'm gonna try to play some of that while it's here. I'll hit up Yakuza 3 this weekend. |

True - April 06, 2010 (07:07 PM) I would strongly advise against Saboteur. It's basically Assassin's Creed 2 older, uglier, inept cousin. |

Halon - April 06, 2010 (07:11 PM) I've heard Just Cause 2 is good. I'm playing BC 2 right on on the PC and for the most part enjoying it. However, it's a multiplayer game that involves ranking so I wouldn't suggest it as a rental. There is SP, but I haven't tried it yet and from what I understand it's solid but not worth getting the for it. |

zippdementia - April 07, 2010 (12:52 PM) I've played (and reviewed!) both Wolfenstein and Alien Versus Predator. The short versions of each... Wolfenstein might actually be an okay weekday rent, because there's not much meat to the game but it's fairly engaging for a quick run through. It's one of those you could rent, not completely finish, and still feel like you had a decent time... as well as no need to ever play it again. AVP is only rent-worthy if you plan on playing online matches. I can't even remember what happens in the campaign game, except that there's really none of the suspense that should make such a title worthwhile. The online is great, but match making can be a pain on the PS3. Not sure about the Xbox360 version. |
