Wait. THAT was the final boss? Is there some sort of super secret extra special ending I'm not aware of? I guess I can't complain about finally being given a break, but Christ that was an easy battle.

The final boss is really the king that you fought in the throne room. That last encounter that I suspect you're talking about is more a moral choice thing. The choice you made determines the ending you get and the boost that you receive for your second trip through the game.

I guess that makes more sense, especially since that king fellow was a beast, but couldn't you technically beat him long before you saw the endgame sequence?
