Genj - September 21, 2009 (01:56 PM) I thought you liked it? I remember reading that Matt Bellamy tried to communicate with the spirit of a dead opera composer when writing the album. Perhaps ghosts aren't very good muses? BAD JOKE: HEY IT'S FUNNY THAT THEY ARE CALLED MUSE BECAUSE THEY COULD REALLY USE A NEW ONE. |

Suskie - September 21, 2009 (03:27 PM) I thought it would a wall-to-wall disaster and I still don't think it's bad, at least not for the most part... I just hate how they're becoming a pop band. Especially when they're churning out garbage like Undisclosed Desires. |

Halon - September 21, 2009 (04:01 PM) My copy finally came in and it's easily their worst effort to date. Some of the songs aren't so bad on their own but the whole album has absolutely no focus. It seems like the band was experimenting with different sounds and then decided to put it all together on one album. The band is definitely at their best when Matt Bellamy and his guitar take over, not when they're ripping off Queen or experimenting with orchestras and R&B beats. I was hoping it would be overall better than the single and unfortunately that's one of my favorite songs on the record. Probably a 5/10 but I'm giving it a 6 because I'm a huge fan of the band and most of the bad parts are still better than most music out there. Kind of how 311's newest album is a 6.5 - 7 but I would give it an 8 haha. |

Suskie - September 22, 2009 (09:41 PM) That's kind of where I'm at, certain individual parts work (and, come to think of it, I really enjoy the second half of the album) but it's inconsistent and I really hate what it represents for the band. After BH&R and now this, I just get the feeling they're trying to appeal more to American audiences -- which I wish they would, but not by sacrificing what made them so good in the first place. At least Bellamy's such an amazing vocalist. It's the one thing that makes Undisclosed Desires tolerable. |
