Any movie that has a Linkin Park song in its trailer is not worthy of my time.

randxian - April 05, 2009 (12:52 PM) Is that the movie in which the guy gets an artificial heart? According to the trailers I've seen on TV, it looks absolutely stupid. If a trailer can't even make a movie look good, then you know there is a problem. |

Suskie - April 05, 2009 (03:11 PM) Well it's actually sequel. The first movie had the same guy injected with a poison that slowed his heart rate and forced him to get adrenaline running in order to stay alive -- which is a ridiculous setup, but the movie was directly really self-consciously and was pretty fun. But a sequel really wasn't necessary and I'm betting this one will just be dumb. Plus, again, Linkin Park. |

honestgamer - April 05, 2009 (09:50 PM) Well, at least Linkin Park is a really great band. I can understand having an aversion to seeing music from a popular band in movie trailers, but you should be relieved that they picked a good one. It could've definitely been a lot worse! |

Suskie - April 05, 2009 (10:18 PM) You dare accuse Mainstream Mike of hating a band because they're popular? Silly Jason. I hate Linkin Park because they're astonishingly bad. This seems more logical to me. |

honestgamer - April 06, 2009 (09:30 AM) Linkin Park is more talented than a lot of what passes for 'talent' in the indie sector. The lead singer can actually carry a tune and doesn't rely on bizarre noise to convince his audience that he's part of something 'musical.' There are great hooks, it sounds good loud and mostly it's just an energizing good time. Not enough music does that--and well--these days, so Linkin Park is a natural fit for a movie that wants to communicate that sense of energy. I wouldn't put Linkin Park in my top three or anything, but they're one of the better bands in existence today for sure. |

Suskie - April 06, 2009 (10:50 AM) They've got two vocalists, neither of whom I'd actually describe as "singers"; one of them is probably the worst rapper in the business of non hip-hop and the other is too busy screaming at the top of his lungs to do any actual singing. And your point about them never using any experimental sounds or "bizarre noise" to communicate is hilarious for how incorrect it is. Listen to Meteora (the whole thing) if you don't believe me. Who says I'm into indie, by the way? Let's not forget that I went to see Coldplay in November, and I'm planning on seeing U2 this fall. I am not automatically dismissive of popular bands. But if they've earned their popularity by sucking as much as Linkin Park do, then yeah, that doesn't help in my mind. |

Genj - April 06, 2009 (06:47 PM) Isn't this the second time Suskie has caused drama from his disdain of Linkin Park?! haha |
