I'm going to make a list of my very favourite FPS games (as the title indicates). If you would like to contribute, please do, but understand that my list is the definitive one for the site. =D
Unreal Tournament
System Shock 2
CyCylones
Goldeneye
Silent Debuggers (heh)

overdrive - August 15, 2008 (11:13 PM) Doom II never will be beat. While the first couple levels are painfully easy, if you can't pick at least a dozen memorable levels out of the 32, you have something horribly wrong with you. And the elite fan-made Doom wads deserve credit, too. Alien Vendetta, Memento Mori, Requiem in particular. Amazing designs with a bit (or a lot) more of a challenge. |

bluberry - August 16, 2008 (12:00 AM) agreed about the first maybe six maps of Doom II, but it's not like they could have done it any other way. admittedly, the game is the first real example of PC FPS games' obsession with the color brown, but it doesn't really bother me when I'm playing. only when I'm looking at screenshots. |

bloomer - August 16, 2008 (02:12 AM) Hm. I guess when the multi-player started to become the part of them that drew more attention, I started playing FPS's less. So my faves are mostly older ones that are about the single player experience. Doom Hexen Killing Time Marathon Trilogy |

Masters - August 16, 2008 (08:30 AM) Wow, how did I forget the Doom games? Doom II was one of my favourite games for so long. What did you guys think of the other old FPS games of the time? Like, Hexen, Heretic, Blake Stone, Wolfenstein: Spear of Destiny, etc? I notice you mentioned Heretic, Wade... what did you think of the sequel? |

JANUS2 - August 16, 2008 (02:25 PM) The XBOX LIVE version of Marathon gave me a headache. Call of Duty 2 on Veteran is the ultimate WWII FPS! Metroid Prime Hunters..... just kidding. |

Felix_Arabia - August 16, 2008 (07:05 PM) Janus speaks the truth about CoD2 on Veteran. The same can be said about Call of Duty 4 on Veteran. It's just fantastic, epic stuff. |

bloomer - August 17, 2008 (01:00 AM) Heh, unfortunately I still haven't played Hexen II, but your reminding me of it makes me want to go find it. And as soon as I started looking into it (IE right now) I got confused again in terms of which game is which. There's ID's 'Heretic' which precedes Hexen, which I have played and enjoyed, though it's a bit simple compared to Hexen. Then there's Hexen, subtitled 'Beyond Heretic'. And then I think you've got both 'Hexen II' and 'Heretic II', the latter being 3rd person and the actual sequel to Heretic. |
