In the next two weeks, two games that I have been eagerly awaiting for ages will be released. I am skint, and have been assigned to review neither.

Which will I buy?

Answers on a postcard. If you know me at all, try guessing what the games are. I doubt you'll have much trouble.

You're obviously a PC guy, so if one of them isn't Fallout 3 I'll be very disappointed. The other... hmm... Far Cry 2, perhaps?

Spot on, Mighty Mike.

Go for Far Cry 2. I remain very optimistic about Fallout 3, but still concerned.

I haven't been following Far Cry 2 very closely. Isn't it set in Africa or something? It looks awesome, and while there are several games this season that take higher priority (including Fallout 3 regardless of what EmP says), I'll definitely have to check it out at some point.

Set in Africa indeed, and driven by a random narrative which sounds unbelievably exciting. It's centred around the hunt for an arms dealer, but the entire game plays out through a series of randomised NPC interactions... to the point where there are, I believe, three or four different player start points. It's entirely freeform, you can visit any area of the land at any time, and argh it looks stunning.

PC Gamer said 94%. Which was nice of them. I eagerly await more reviews - or I might just buy it next Friday.
