Ugh, Star Ocean 3's sappy story
December 22, 2007

Gotten a bunch more hours into SO3... the game has been a lot more breezy since I got Cliff using Hammer of Might, he's fuckin' insane. Just got Maria, not sure if I'm gonna replace Nel right away, we'll see how it goes.

But ugh, I really don't like Fayt's character. Always bitching'. Cliff is the man, though. I think I might layoff the Star Ocean and go back to Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. Since I just interrupted my playing of that for Star Ocean all-a-sudden.

Anyway, I found some more evidence for why Star Ocean is cool. Many of things you can examine in the peoples households are quirky objects or paintings. Some of it has been giving the game a sense of humuor... like, there was two paintings on the walls of different houses depicting hampsters, and one of them said, "The Hampster returns" or something. Weird.

Oh, I also noticed that there are indescrepancies with the world (Elicoor) considering the plot twist of the game. Like in one of the houses you examine a bookshelf and the volumes of the books are at their 100 thousands. Then Fayt comments about this and says he's never seen a series of volumes reach that high.

Other things like that crop up, where seemingly unrealistic things are present in the world.

Dialogue is plentiful though. People always have different stuff to say after every semi-major event. Every time I play through I hear something different. I'm also trying to use inventing to my advantage for the hell of it, but mostly just to keep my rank up and maybe I'll rack in some more dough.

Anyway,

It rained last night, and now it's snowing. Weird weather! And my 21st birthday is tomorrow! Crazy.

Happy early birthday.

I've never played SO3, but I do own SO2, yet I really haven't played that either. I probably should.

Star Ocean is up on my list of awesome games as well...I, also, have yet to play 3,,but 2 kicked but story wise and battle wise
If 3 is half as decent as you make it out to be, I should enjoy it...
How is the battle system thus far? Any likenesses?

Well, it's free-roaming in a 3d environment, like in Star Ocean 2. But attacks are a bit more complex than before, in a good way, mind you. Star Ocean 2 had a lot of mashing 'X' and somehow managed to still be fun, but SO3 has you thinking a little bit more during battle. Naturally, like Star Ocean 2, your party will get strong enough to barrage the enemy with numerous attacks or battle skills, and then the fight is over quickly. That's always fun. =D. Battle is regarded as the best part of the game by some.
