The Walking Dead: Michonne - Episode 3: What We Deserve (PlayStation 3) review"Leaves me hopeful for the future of The Walking Dead game franchise" |
Well... What We Deserve, the final episode of the Michonne mini-series, functioned, which is more than I could say for Episode 2... This one still stuttered and stopped more than was acceptable, but it was just a few ticks below the amount of glitches that distract you so much that the atmosphere is completely ruined. And it's a good thing too, as this episode was the best written as well, and was quite enjoyable.
Michonne's situation is pretty interesting, and although this is a short episode, the decisions you make and the situation you're in is very engaging. I can also see how different the game must be for people who made other decisions earlier in the series. This episode also features some of the better implementation of quick-time cues that we've seen in awhile in a Walking Dead game. I have mixed feelings sometimes about these game's mainly consisting of easy little quick-time events, but some of the toward the climax of this episode felt pretty solid and fun to participate in. Michonne's hallucinations are also back in full force and continue to be the compelling element that make this series feel a lot different than the others.
This final episode leaves me hopeful for the future of The Walking Dead game franchise. I was really put off by the glitchy rubbish of the 2nd episode, but this one pulled its act together enough for you to be able to perceive the story and also feature a neat conclusion to our little tale. The whole experience makes me want to switch over to PC for the upcoming Season 3, but I'll have to look into the options for setting up your past choices when switching platforms. This episode was a 3 out of 5.
