zippdementia I'm best known for my extensive work in the fields of this and that. I tend to be better at that, though I have more fun with this.

I'm an odd jobber with an even personality who isn't afraid to roll with the punches but prefers to dodge them when able.

Title: I hate the banks

Yes, another wonderful day here at work that was absolutely ruined by a message from my bank, informing me that I was low on money. This message was sent nine hours after I accidentally and unknowingly overdrew my account by an incredible $1.39 and then, a minute later, another 45 cents. Because this was two separate withdrawals, this resulted in the very reasonable fee of 90 fucking dollars (and $1.84).

I think this best describes what my course of action should be:

I hate the banks.

As harsh as that fee is (your bank is going to make $90 off a minor inconvenience!), it's really your responsibility to keep track your finances to prevent things like that from happening. I mean, if your account was low enough that you were able to overdraw at all (or you were taking out a very large amount), you really should have been more careful. Additionally, I'm sure when you opened your account with the branch, you signed some sort of agreement to face penalties for overdraw, etc so really it's not like you can complain and blame ignorance. Hopefully you will walk away with this experience with a lesson learned - to be more aware of your finances - rather than deciding to waste your time writing a letter that will more than likely end up in the trash.

That reminds me of when Louis CK was like, "Ever get so poor that the bank starts charging you money for not having enough money?"

Genj,

Of course I only have myself to blame. However, I wish that banks didn't prey on the failings of their customers.

An unrealistic wish, yes. Or maybe not. I'm joining Bank Simple as soon as it opens and good riddance to the mainstream banks.

Look it up. Reminds me of how Netflix put Hollywood out of business.

I haven't been juggling my funds well, so my citibank account has $2.17 on deposit while my citizens has, uh, more. thank god I intentionally left my debit card at home when I got shitfaced, because according to a friend, I wanted to put something on the card rather than dip into the $80 cash I had with me, which is retarded and would have overdrawn me. fucking alcohol, I beat you!

Hench why I never, EVER take my card to the strip club. "Yeah, baby. I'll buy you that car. Dance for me some more and we're good."

I have no self-control.

What do you mean "no such features?" I don't know of any bank prior to bank simple which doesn't overdraft charge.

I'm with a credit union and they don't charge me for overdrawing. They do send a passive aggressive letter to me. But I can't physically overdraw it. It's only when something is set up to auto-pay, like my Internet fees, and I forgot to leave enough in the account. In that instance, I'd gone over with my download limits so the Internet charged me more than I'd allowed.

But by the time I got the letter my pay had arrived so the problem fixed itself.

yeah with the new legislation passed you have to opt-in to overdraft programs, otherwise your card will just be declined. which I prefer, since it's usually not out of brokeness but rather negligence that this sort of thing happens.
