I'm best known for my extensive work in the fields of this and that. I tend to be better at that, though I have more fun with this.
I'm an odd jobber with an even personality who isn't afraid to roll with the punches but prefers to dodge them when able.
Title: Thinking about seeing Sherlock Holmes....? Posted: December 26, 2009 (10:31 AM)
... don't. It's terrible. Bad acting, hackneyed plot, awful script... I haven't seen a film try so hard to be good since The Spirit* Just do yourself a favour and skip this three-hour monstrosity. Go see Avatar instead.
*It's not as bad as The Spirit.

Thanks for the heads up. I was considering going to see this movie.
One thing that bugs me is the focus seems to be more on action and brawling that brains and mystery. I did get a sense from the trailers that they were trying too hard to make it appear to the modern younger audience.

Remember Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman? That's what you should expect out of the Holmes movie, only with worse acting.

I haven't seen Sherlock Holmes yet, and don't really plan to, but there is no WAY it's anywhere near as bad as Van Helsing.

What I'm hearing elsewhere is that it's a really bad movie but so much fun to just watch and enjoy that you don't care. It sounds like it's a bad movie to watch if you have a hard time turning off the part of you that demands cinematic excellence. Me, I have no such issues... so I'll probably still see it in some form down the road, while knowing that it's not going to be as true to the source material as I would like. Of course, the previews already told me that!

While I have no intention of seeing this, I rather liked The Spirit.
