Thankfully my country has in fact removed all restrictions on gay marriage, and has done so by simply changing the main legal clause on marriages to state "two people of different or equal sex". No special clauses, no exceptions to exceptions, just instantly equating it to man/woman marriages in every single way.

Which isn't to say that even in the Netherlands, there's a whole lot of work left to do for society as a whole in its views on same sex relationships.
