Catching up with Lost
May 26, 2010

I should probably do that one of these days. The first disc of Season 5 has been sitting on my desk for four months.

Ha. Good luck getting to the series finale without hearing about the big twist.

Unfortunately, the very friend of mine who got me into Lost in the first place joined the Air Force recently and was away for most of this last season. He doesn't get leave until October, so he'll have to last until then without getting the ending spoiled. I don't know how he'll manage.

It is going to be tough, considering I work in film and television and there's a spoiler in every conversation.

Maybe I should just lock myself in a room and blitz through season 5 and 6, not speaking to people until I make it.

SPOILER UNRELATED TO LOST!

But, hey, if people can get through 11 years without hearing about Aerith dying, then I can make it through without hearing about Lost!

Unless they can manage to turn Lost's spoiler into a catchphrase. I mean, they did it with Portal. Hours/days after the game came out, everyone kept shouting the term anywhere and everywhere on the internet, as if it wasn't a big deal.

I really, really hate people sometimes...

Parodies can even spoil things too.

HARRY POTTER SPOILERS

The Simpsons actually spoiled Dumbledore's death for me. I saw its parody of it before I read Half-Blood Prince, and it didn't take me long to really make the connection.

Though "Snape … Dumbledore" is pretty much becoming the modern version of "I'm Your Father." It's only a matter of time before an entire generation is born knowing who did what to Dumbledore.

When you think about, Dumbledore's death isn't even that surprising. Cedric's death was much more shocking.
