My list of things to do this weekend
November 13, 2008

1) Read 150 pages in a novel for my English class by Tuesday

2) Read 30-60 pages for Theology

3) Read the rest of what I have for Anthropology if I don't finish it today

4) Get started on this stupid group project for anthropology

5) Get caught up in history... I still need to read 100 pages there.

6) Write a 2-page reflection paper on the novel for English by Thursday

7) Map the courses I need to take next semester

8) Write a review

9) Get over this damn cold so I can actually do all this work

10) Convince myself that doing all this work on the weekend is worth it in the first place

11) Failing #10, kill myself (not literally, of course)

EDIT: ...and a history practice essay for the fnal by Friday...

Weee!

This is what I gotta do:

1) Write a dumb reflection on ethics or some dumb shit my professor threw a powerpoint together about and will likely not read and just write a check mark on.

2) Write a one page reflection on some readings about whatever we're going over on Monday in Lifespan.

3) Study patient transfers for my practical on Nov. 25th.

take that and I'm in like grad school

Ooh. Practicals. Those are tough, I've heard, since I know people who've taken them.

You're also a med student... so you can probably one-up me just about any time of your life with that. Though what you have to do this weekend sounds significantly less a pain in the ass than what I have to do... except for the practicals thing.

Maybe I shouldn't be saying this, but I found I was able to pass college as an English Major by reading approximately 20% of the required reading. Just going to class usually was enough, as the teacher would summarize the salient points. I remember writing whole essays on a novel without ever having glanced at more than a few paragraphs. And I had good grades, too.

What, how does this help you with your classes? I'm not sure that it does, I just posted to brag ^_^

In all seriousness, really I think you can take things a bit easier and let up on yourself a bit. Life is a memory, don't forget to remember it. You gotta take time to remind yourself why you're doing what you're doing and remind yourself that you've been gifted with the remarkable occurence that is life. Grab a beer, watch a sunset, relax.

Heh. Thanks. I'm odd, though. I feel that if I don't finish the reading, I'll miss something important. And I can't skim through things to save my life. The only time I'd skimp on the reading is if I absolutely had to. I did that last year a few times. My Heroes and Classical Epics class was a prime example: I only read half of the Aeneid before taking the final and I think I passed that with an A.

I also like getting straight As. I've done it so far I've been here and I like to keep it that way. I feel that if I don't do everything I can, I won't maintain that grade.

But I know you're right in a way. I should take a break now and then, and I do occasionally, but I also neeed to figure out how to prioritize things first for that.

That's cool that you did that, though. I'm not an English major, thankfully. I'm a History/International Studies one, but still...

...I don't remember where I was going with that.

I think the main thing is just knowing what it is you want out of life. It's taken me years to figure out that what I really like to do, better than anything else, is write reviews. Getting accepted as part of HG's staff was kind've an eye-opener for me, inspiring me to work on making writing reviews a full time endeavor. If I can just build a good enough portfolio, I may be able to pull it off.

But now I'm talking about myself again. Going back to you, you sound like a motivated hard worker, and it's my belief that your kind of people can do ANYTHING. Plus you're a good writer, so you have a lot going for you.

Heh. Thanks. I'm sure I'll make it through all this stuff... It's just... so annoying being busy all the time.

I hope you can find what you're looking for, too. I'm glad you enjoy writing - I do too - and it's always good to see aspiring new faces trying to achieve something worthwile. I hope you stick around here, and even if you do progress onto bigger things, I hope you'll still hang around here and share your content/thoughts with us.
