I read the review at Joystiq. They summed it up with a big bold: "It's a technical nightmare."

I try to stop by Half Price books whenever I visit Lexington. Never know what you'll find there.

Here are some thoughts.

"particularly too well" sounds like one word too many.

Well, if you’re a newbie, you’re shit out of luck since the game has no tutorial mode to explain all this complicated football jargon.

I've never played a football game that explained any terminology. It doesn't seem like something that should necessarily be covered in a manual either; it might expand to 90 pages instead of nine to explain the basics of everything.

Now, this idea doesn tie into the idea that the game does not diagram the plays well, since that would be the way to figure out the complex plays. Maybe you can make those points closer together.

As I understand, though, this game (like Madden 10 and probably others) does offer simplified play calling as well, where you can choose things like 'blitz' or 'pass deep' or whatever. Is it worth mentioning that novice players don't have to understand a 4-3 defense if they don't want to?

Why are all your references to NFL teams and players?

No mention of available modes (or unavailable modes), or their quality (or lack of quality).

Tracking down 'covers' for digital releases is almost always a pain. Thanks for doing it!

One thing I think I'll do for the future is keep tabs on reviews I do that I really like, but didn't use in a contest for the next TT.

I'm doing that, too. In fact, I already saved a nice text file to hold the future list. Now let's see if I remember to put anything in there.

True was actually already above me after the semis, so no flipping or flopping there. I'm not that surprised by my position. Boo did nearly all the heaviest lifting, and I only had 1 sweep victory.

Awww, now I wish I had voted for you for captain of the year, but I wrote Suskie cause they won. Take it out on me in the HATE contest.

Also, technically you are right about Team Felix, but that only supposes that drella would have always slid into Rand's slot, which wouldn't have been the case.

A-Man has got to be the hardest worker on this site and detrimental to our meteoric rise.

Somehow, I don't think that's what you mean.

I'm interested in seeing how it compares to the first one, where I did feel like I got bogged down by all the puzzles. I should have my hands on it tomorrow, although who knows when I'll actually get to start playing it.

For me there is a runaway hyperlink that starts in this paragraph:

Golden Vortex, on the other hand, does two things the judges hate: it’s long and it takes forever to get to the point. By now I’ve discovered, in my own writing, that
