Title: I am in awe...
Posted: October 04, 2008 (07:35 AM)
So I went on YouTube to see if The Protomen had released anything new yet. In case you're wondering, The Protomen is a band that chronicles the story of Mega Man through rock opera. Yes, rock opera. But this stuff is like no rock opera you've ever heard. It's a full-on crash-and-burn explosion of sound that will blow your face away.

But their newest song, which is a demo off their upcoming album (which they refer to as "the second act"), is a suprising change-up from their previous stuff. "Breaking Out", while sounding like a supercharged Mike and the Mechanics song, is really, really, REALLY good. Listen to this; you won't regret it.

EDIT: if you hate Mike and the Mechanics (I myself am not a fan), don't let my comparison turn you away. I only make that comparison because whenever they play this song live, they start with part of a MATM song.

Title: In Memoriam
Posted: September 11, 2008 (05:17 PM)
On this day, September 11th, in 2001, millions lost their lives to the attacks on the World Trade Center towers.

Please keep in your prayers all who were affected by that terrible day.

Title: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Part Deux
Posted: August 14, 2008 (05:56 PM)
If you've seen some of my recent posts, you'd remember the one about my fave indie/crunk-rock band Family Force 5 and their new EP, Dance or Die. Well, I am quite excited to learn that their new album is coming out the 19th of August, in about five days. This is their Myspace, so check it out if you want a listen.

So I was cleaning out my basement yesterday, when all of a sudden I found my formerly lost copy of Zelda: Collector's Edition behind an old cardboard box. As you can imagine, I am on cloud nine right now, and psyched about some old-school Zelda gaming.

Rock Band 2's setlist is looking very impressive. Can you say "AC/DC"?

Title: Here's a shocker...

Sonic X in Japanese is... well... actually a good show. The 4Kids dub is a piece of crap, and I hated it, mostly because of the lame dialogue and voice acting. So when my friend introduced me to the Japanese version of Sonic X, I almost wept with joy. Because it... was... good. Or, at the very least, far better than the version we got stuck with.

Title: Heroes of Our Time
Posted: July 28, 2008 (07:32 AM)
DragonForce's new single "Heroes of Our Time" (from their upcoming album Ultra Beatdown) is awesome. It's not fundamentally different from their other material, but the solo is pretty amazing, and the lyrics are better-written than a lot of their previous efforts. I've embedded the music vid, which is the shortened version. It's available for download now, so check it out.

Title: In Memoriam

Wayne Steed's cartridge copy of Super Mario 64 (NUS-006, USA) passed away yesterday due to a fatal chip attack. It had lived for twelve years of worthwhile gaming before its death. It is survived by its brothers (Mario Kart 64 and Mario Party), its cousins (Super Smash Bros., Yoshi's Story and Paper Mario), and its roommates (Star Fox 64 and F-Zero X). Its memory will live on forever through the Wii's Virtual Console.

Title: Wayne's Videogaming Words of Wisdom

* Game delay makes the heart grow fonder. (Zelda: Twilight Princess, anyone?)

* Barking Chain Chomps frequently bite.

* The best things in life are unlockable.

* Better late than never-- unless you're playing Zelda: Majora's Mask.

* Speak softly and carry a BFG.

* Rocs of a feather flock together.

* Don’t judge an NPC until you walk around in his or her-- oh, wait... you can’t. Never mind.

* If at first you don’t succeed, look up how to on HonestGamers.

* The grass is always greener on the other side of the invisible barrier.

* Hindsight and foresight are both important, unless you have an adjustable camera angle.

* If you can’t beat ‘em, trade ‘em in. But only as a last resort.

* If you can’t take the heat, get the Varia Suit first.

* In Halo 2, the sword is mightier than pretty much every other weapon. Especially the needler.

* The gamer who builds his SimCity to every man’s advice will have the worst city ever.

* You can lead your Grand Theft Auto 3 character to water, but you can’t make him swim without dying.

* You can’t have your Energy Tank and use it too.

* Strike while the weak spot is flashing red.

Title: Starting a sixth guide
Posted: June 26, 2008 (07:39 AM)
Well, since the dog days of summer are nigh upon us, I've decided to stick to my AC-filled house and pen a guide for Mega Man III. It's still in the basic stages, but with a little work...

Title: Dance or Die
Posted: June 14, 2008 (03:59 PM)
No, that is not a threat to your well-being, but the title of crunk band Family Force 5's new EP. It's an iTunes-exclusive, three-track pack of sheer awesome, and totally worth the three dollars it costs to download it. (You can also use Limewire, if you can handle the performance impact.)

The three songs featured on the EP - "Dance or Die", "Fever", and "Wake the Dead" - really show the way that the Family has changed and developed since the 2006 release of their first album, Business Up Front/Party in the Back. New (and sometimes bizarre) techno elements blend effortlessly with the bouncy crunk-punk rock formula that Family Force 5 has already established so well. And yet, the old FF5 still shines through, with all their catchy beats and tunes, their devil-may-care attitudes, and their party-loving wildness.

All in all, it's a sweet, sweet taste of their new album (slated for an autumn release) that has left me yearning for more. And I hope that after you listen to these songs (embedded below), you'll be yearning right along with me.

Title: SUMMER!
Posted: May 29, 2008 (05:57 AM)
Well, it's finally summer, thank God. This means that I get more time to write reviews, fanfics, guides, etc. Although I've been pretty busy for the past few months, and thus unable to really do anything, you'll be seeing a lot more of me in the coming months.

Jeez! I went to sleep, and when I woke up, it was a month later. I hope that's a good excuse as to why I haven't posted anything in almost a month.

Ah, well... better start working on a review or something along those lines.
