I'm back alright.

It looks like between the possibilities of a one shot deal and a proper return to reviewing, we've got the latter. Played through Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, a 70 hour task for me as I insisted on picking up and completing every side quest I found, and there are many. The gameplay could not carry the game that far, but the lore did. Loved the setting. Would probably have wanted to see a game that did it more justice. Never going to happen, though, this one game cost about triple its budget to make, and pretty much assured the developer's bankruptcy no matter how well it did on the market.

Review didn't flow from my keyboard quite as well as did EMD or Zaxxon, but still satisfied with the end result, and I think I managed to stick with what I wanted to say and avoid the flowering that often happened to me in the past. Unconsciously, I'd be working toward the point where there was nothing left to add, resulting in a bloated review far too often. Trying for the 'nothing left to be taken away' approach now.

Yeah, I try to shoot for around 1200 words myself. When I go over that, I can feel my audience's attention fading even before I post the review (which is quite the trick). I'm glad to see that you're making a proper return to reviewing. It's great to have a variety of voices and experiences around here. That's what made the site so much fun in the olden days, and if we're going to have a new golden era, it has to start--again--with a bunch of unique voices sharing their thoughts on games. Thanks for sharing yours!
