Super Fantasy Zone review (GEN)Reviewed on February 01, 2009Despite being average at its core, Super Fantasy Zone certainly possesses a unique charm and pleasant aesthetics. Taking a similar structure as its predecessor, Super Fantasy Zone combines the cartoonish buoyancy of any 16-bit platform game and the fast-paced action of any other 16-bit shooter to create a creative blend of style and substance. |

Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000 review (32X)Reviewed on July 28, 2008To this day, I have no idea why I'm a 32x fan. I mean, I know the entire concept of the 32x was stupid and that the majority of the 32x game library (if you can call it a library. I think bookshelf would be a more appropriate description) was mediocre. Yet, I still have some hideous attachment to the add-on, despite not owning it in my youth or even pining for one during its initial release. |

INXS: Make My Video review (SCD)Reviewed on July 10, 2008Now, I’ve only played a handful of games that I’d describe as truly awful. These games were either unplayable due to horrible controls, an awful grasp of the subject matter or they were just plain boring. However, despite my exposure to these horrible titles, nothing in the world could prepare me for the sheer atrocity that is INXS: Make my Video. One of the three video-editing (and I use that term lightly) games (that one too) released on the Sega Mega CD, this title follows the fad of... |

Custer's Revenge review (A2600)Reviewed on May 19, 2007If anyone finds Custer's Revenge disturbing, horrible or anything other than hilarious, then you've clearly got issues with your sense of humour. Sure, as far as games go, it's crap but when people tell me that it's tasteless, I just tell them to get a grip. Besides, the Atari 2600 had loads of really funny, yet horribly bad, “pornographic” games. Now, the reason I used that word in inverted commas is because that none of these games are anything but erotic or stimulating in any way. If you're p... |

Super Mario Sunshine review (GCN)Reviewed on March 21, 2007To be blunt, I hated Nintendo’s approach to a 3-D Mario game. The idea of playing through the same level eight times, isn’t exactly my idea of a fun game. Super Mario 64 is one of the most popular Mario titles, and arguably, games of all time. Its unique mixture of platforming and exploration was indeed a match that seemed to be made in heaven, but it was victim of its own circumstances. Levels, despite being large, were rather boring, enemies barely posed a threat and, although ... |

The Legend of the Mystical Ninja review (SNES)Reviewed on January 12, 2007While Goemon himself is rather recognisable, it’s pretty hard to actually pin down where you’ve seen him before. Since I’m a Brit, the only Goemon games that I can actually play are this one and its sequel on the N64, due to the fact that they were the only ones translated into the English. Which is a damn shame, considering how enjoyable this title is, but thanks to the wonder of emulation, I managed to enjoy what it had to offer. |

WarioWare: Touched! review (DS)Reviewed on December 08, 2006The DS started Nintendo's incredibly irritating use of pathetic innuendos. While people are now ecstatic about playing with their Wii's and the Wii's of others in public, a year ago, they were obsessed with “touching”, “stroking” and “blowing” the DS. Did you find those last sentences funny? Of course you didn't. In fact, every time I hear a DS joke or an ever increasing Wii joke, it puts me off going near any of them, which is a shame because they both have the potential to redefine the way we ... |

Kirby: Canvas Curse review (DS)Reviewed on November 09, 2006Now, if you break down the key components of the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo's gimmick-machine is either going to use its features either just for the hell of it or to use its tools do to what it was supposed to. Nintendo's current policy is to transform the standard way of playing games by introducing innovative tools and methods to games, which would've been extremely unnatural a few years ago. The release of this console and the forthcoming Revolution (I can't say Wii because I know I'... |

Drakengard 2 review (PS2)Reviewed on August 28, 2006Despite the fact that Drakengard 2 has progressed a lot, it’s a boring experience that lurks in the shadow of the original. The gloomy atmosphere, the doomed and melancholic characters and the path of despair that game led you down were unforgettable. The experience of standing alone and staring an entire army straight in the eye was something that sent shivers down your spine and caused the hair on the back of your neck to stand to attention. The ability to leap into the sky and perch... |
