Arkanoid: Doh it Again review (SNES)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

Over the years, I have managed to play a lot of video games. I have also found there to be certain patterns when it comes to the video game industry. One of these patterns is disappointment. A lot of games have disappointed me over the years, with the ''highlights'' of this syndrome being Legend of Dragoon and Zelda: Link's Awakening. Both of those games severely disappointed me to the point of no avail, because I expected a lot better from them then what I ended up getting.

ActRaiser review (SNES)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

Sometimes, a game comes along and totally surprises me. This game comes along every once in a while, but not as often as I would like. Some of the games that have fallen under this category include, but are not limited to, Blaster Master, Dragon Warrior 3, and, more recently, Tales of Destiny. One of the most memorable games I found that fell under this category was a game called Act Raiser. I remember it pretty fondly.

Brave Fencer Musashi (PlayStation)

Brave Fencer Musashi review (PSX)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

My favorite video game company of all time is SquareSoft. Never in my life have I seen such a company that could focus on mainly one genre (RPG) for so long, then delve into other genres (Einhander as a shooter, Ehreigz as a fighting game) and succeed so wildly as a result. So when I heard of the cool Playstation game made by SquareSoft named Brave Fencer Mushashi, I made sure to pick up a copy of it as soon as possible. Hearing of the amazing gameplay elements, the game reminded me of Secret of...

Amazon Trail review (PC)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

We all grew up playing Oregon Trail on our little computers at school. It was a terrific game about a group of people that you lead from one end of the trail to another. So, of course, the game was so good, that the company had to make a bunch of ripoffs. Amazon Trail was one of these ripoffs, and I think it's safe to say I just didn't enjoy this game as much as Oregon Trail. This game is merely decent and is not even that good as a stand-alone game, due to bad graphics and a gameplay system tha...

Barbie Game Girl (Game Boy)

Barbie Game Girl review (GB)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

Have you ever wanted to be a game girl? I know I have. When I was 6, I dressed up all of my Transformer dolls and made them date each other. I even built a fancy car out of legos for them to drive around in. It was loads of fun. As you can tell, I had a deprived childhood. It has always been my dream and destiny to be a game girl. My ex was one too, but that's a whole other issue. From the age of six, it has been MY choice. What does that have to do with this game or review? Absolutely nothing. ...

Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle (NES)

Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle review (NES)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

My mom does not like to play many video games, so when she does play one, it must be a very special game. So that would make Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle a very special game. Because not only did my mom loved to play this game back in the days, but I still remember when she stayed up all night trying to get every password in the game. That will always mean a lot to me. Hell, even my sister plays this game sometimes, and she has played about 10 games in her entire lifetime!

Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout (NES)

Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout review (NES)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

People have seem to developed some sort of hatred for an old NES game called Bugs Bunny Birthay Blowout. Unaware to the reasons why, I decided recently to pull out a copy of the game to see if it was really that horrible. After all, I distinctly remember enjoying the game a lot as a child. It certainly was never one of my favorites, but it made for some decent fun, especially when I was bored out of my mind.

Bubble Bobble (NES)

Bubble Bobble review (NES)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

Bubble Bobble is a very fun and entertaining game released by Taito way back in 1989. It spawned several sequels, including Rainbow Islands. This was one of those games (along with TMNT 2 and Adventure Island) that took up most of my spare time back in the early 90's. Back then, I loved this game, and even thought the game has lost some of its appeal, I still find it enjoyable and play it every once in a while.

Bionic Commando (NES)

Bionic Commando review (NES)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

Wow, what an innovative game. Bionic Commando, released as a sequel to Commando way back in the early '90's, is a lot different, and a lot better than its predeccesor. Commando was basically a vertically scrolling shooter like Ikari Warriors. Bionic Commando is a horizontally scrolling action/adventure game where non-linear game play reigns. And even the game play is a lot different, because Bionic Commando may be the only game in the genre for NES where you are unable to jump!! Heck, it may be ...

Baseball Stars II: Be A Champ! review (NES)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

have never understood the relative dislike of the sequel to the awesome Baseball Stars. Even EGM got in on the action, calling Baseball Stars one of the best 100 games of all time, then dissing on the sequel a little. I loved the original Baseball Stars, but this game is simply just as good. The only complaint I really have is that it's not too much different than the original. The integral gameplay has stayed the same, as the game basically looks the same. The game got some statistical and oth...

Baseball review (NES)

Reviewed on March 07, 2005

When Nintendo first released the NES (the single most important event in the history of the universe), they decided to produce a bunch of sports games, with a quality that has never been seen before. If you're talking low quality, that is. While Soccer and Tennis were surprisingly good games, games like Golf and 10 Yard Fight represented the complete opposite end of the spectrum. But one game took the cake as being perhaps the worst sports game released on NES. Yes, it may just be worse than Maj...

Let's Meow Meow! (PC)

Let's Meow Meow! review (PC)

Reviewed on March 06, 2005

Obsession is a blinding force. Ibuki Takao’s infatuation is particularly consuming, given that it’s one of a sexual nature. He simply cannot resist a catgirl. The fixation even manifests itself in his everyday behavior; he projects his love of these fictional creatures onto their existing counterparts by feeding strays at the park. Little did he know how these efforts would be rewarded. In a dreamy haze, the Cat God appears and grants Ibuki a single wish. Without hesitation, he screams his ...

Seiken Densetsu 3 review (SNES)

Late 1994 to early 1996 was a landmark of excellence in SNES RPGs, as many titles of prime quality were released, including Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III/VI, and Super Mario RPG. Had a truly remarkable RPG seen an overshores release, it would have been hailed as a timeless classic.

If you've ever been caught playing a D&D game by a friend or relative, you know the drill. "Nerd!" they'll yell, laughing at your back as you're hunched over your keyboard or controller, totally entranced. D&D has always been synonymous with everything nerdly and anti-social, which is why it's such a testament to the brand's awesomeness that normally non-nerdly people like myself are willing to brave the insults of their peers just to get some sweet armor for their level 8 human warrior. Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee (Xbox)

Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee review (XBX)

Reviewed on February 28, 2005

Munch’s Oddysee was one of the launch titles for the Xbox and was the third game in the Oddworld Quintology. Unlike the previous Oddworld antics, it was in a fully 3D environment and also allowed a tag feature between two characters. Although these features were added the qualities that made Abe’s Oddysee and Exoddus great were ground down to their basics. The stealth puzzles were rare and the Gamespeak was minimized from six characters to two. In their place were more action, explosions and ...
