Tomb Raider: Underworld (PlayStation 3)

Tomb Raider: Underworld review (PS3)

Reviewed on May 28, 2012

I don't see why the enemies have an AI that might compliment a stealth element though, when you can barely do anything with the latter, anyway. It only slightly works because the human enemies are so stupid. Seriously, throw a grenade so that it blows up two feet away from some dude, and he'll still be all like, ''where she at?!'' I just don't get why battle was programmed that way, when waltzing in there and busting peeps down works just fine. I've not once seen any use at all for the stealth a...

Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland (PlayStation 3)

Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland review (PS3)

Reviewed on May 26, 2012

There’s an astonishing level of complexity on display everywhere you turn, so you might have to wait until your second or third trip through the game before trying to actually hunt down some of the more fearsome monsters. Even then, with the benefit of gear that you are allowed to carry over from one round to the next, failure is possible and perhaps even likely. There’s a bunch of awesome stuff to do and see but not nearly enough time.

The Walking Dead: Episode 1 - A New Day (PlayStation 3)

The Walking Dead: Episode 1 - A New Day review (PS3)

Reviewed on April 26, 2012

Like the comic and show, the game is really about relationships and tough decisions. The dialogue options are the heart of the game. You can choose how to react to most things characters say. Depending on the situation, you can lie or tell the truth, be hateful or helpful, insult someone or support them. Characters will remember the things you do and say to them, and later scenes will change depending on your decisions.

Rayman 3 HD (PlayStation 3)

Rayman 3 HD review (PS3)

Reviewed on April 26, 2012

While Rayman Origins hasn’t exactly set the world on fire, those who gave it a chance were impressed with it for (among other things) its sense of humour and charm. Perhaps to capitalize on these new fans, Ubisoft recently released a new HD remaster of the least charming title in the series, Rayman 3.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PlayStation 3)

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots review (PS3)

Reviewed on April 25, 2012

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots can best be described as an average game that has been carried by the legacy of its predecessors. While it utilizes many of the old-school storytelling and gameplay elements that made other games in the series fun, it completely misses the mark in other areas. Does that mean Metal Gear Solid 4 is overrated? You bet.

Green Day: Rock Band (PlayStation 3)

Green Day: Rock Band review (PS3)

Reviewed on April 18, 2012

As a music reviewer I am intrigued, and excited to review Green Day rock band. I have seen the band three times including the colossal Wembley Stadium gig in 2010. The virtual slice is compelling and deeply interactive. You can play as leading man Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool. All you need is a guitar, some drums, and if you like to bellow, a microphone. The game is a lot of fun.

Dead Space 2 review (PS3)

Reviewed on April 12, 2012

Horror games will always make your heart shudder and scream. Dead Space 2 takes your heart and speaks to it, prods it, haunts it, overwhelms the valves, chills the blood that passes through the veins. If your eyes aren’t compatible for frightening experiences, then this game isn’t for you, please utilize your gaming skills elsewhere. Dead Space 2 is the sequel to the very popular Dead Space, a game that was rich in quality and diversity, swarming with Necromorphs that want to extract the blood a...

inFAMOUS 2 review (PS3)

Reviewed on April 10, 2012

Here we a have a sequel that you can proudly call brilliant. Infamous 2 even betters its predecessor; it overtakes it like a rally car with incomparable velocity. It’s a sandbox classic, with enough punch and grace to enlighten the man or woman who chooses to jump in. Yet again you play as Cole, a man with an electrical heart, and a scarred mind. He is one of the most enigmatic protagonists ever seen in my opinion, in the gaming world that is. He leaves Empire City in the past, and uses New Mara...

Journey (PlayStation 3)

Journey review (PS3)

Reviewed on March 30, 2012

The aim of Journey is an attempt at engendering empathy without overtly inserting it. Rather than rely on story to build empathy with a virtual character, Journey offers us the opportunity to empathize with the general human condition.

My team went through a checkpoint door and encountered enemy resistance. I noticed one teammate was absent on the front lines, and looked for her. Naturally, she was running in place, into the locked checkpoint door we had just come through.

Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 (PlayStation 3)

Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 review (PS3)

Reviewed on March 05, 2012

Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 progresses in a simple pattern: you travel to a new land, witness events in its main town, then outlying areas appear and you explore them. Typically, you’ll slay a monster in a new area, go back to town and witness another event, then return to the same area again so that you can slay a second monster. Every so often, a new area unlocks and the process repeats as you gradually work through the game’s plot.

Twisted Metal review (PS3)

Twisted Metal: PS3 is the kind of game that you'll know whether you'll like long before you play it. In fact, right now, you probably already have an idea of whether or not it's the game for you. The reasons for this are simple: Twisted Metal knows what it's about and it focuses on doing that one thing really well. Therefore, if you like vehicular arena battles, you'll like- or quite possibly love- Twisted Metal.
